CHAPTER 51: Capture the Thief by First Capturing the King

The first enemy that came into view was a person completely wrapped in leaves, with only two eyes visible.

These eyes were cold and calm, devoid of any expression.

Just looking at those eyes, one could tell that this person was undoubtedly an iron-blooded warrior who had survived countless battles on the battlefield! Such individuals have only one life philosophy: kill the enemy and complete the mission!

In front of him lay a huge siege crossbow that had long been buried. On it, ten glossy black arrows were already perfectly positioned, ready to be fired at any moment!

Chu Yang held his breath cautiously and moved forward slowly. Now, he was already at the treetop, like a silent ghost, advancing strangely beneath the thick cover of branches and leaves.

From his high vantage point, he surveyed the surroundings. Nearby, there were countless gleaming arrowheads—at least fifty or sixty people!

This was clearly a premeditated ambush! How could the enemy know that this group would rest here? Moreover, they had even set up a siege crossbow in advance?

Observing the positions of the enemy, Chu Yang frowned deeply. Their placements were too precise!

Each enemy was in the line of sight of at least three others. This way, they could support each other perfectly. If anyone was discovered, they could provide maximum assistance!

This formation could only be set up by the most elite soldiers in an army! If he wanted to attack any one of them, he would definitely be spotted by one of the other three!

Although the hiding spots of the enemies were absolutely concealed, there were no blind spots for their own people! To quietly eliminate such a team, there was no way but to have an insider among them!

In the center, behind a patch of low bushes, a vague figure lay motionless. It looked no different from the others, but Chu Yang immediately recognized that this person was certainly crucial.

Because from his position, at least ten of his companions could see him at the same time! Others could see him at most from five different positions. Moreover, he was in the center, effectively protected by his own people!

Beside him, concealed among the branches and leaves, was a massive bed crossbow!

At that moment, the conversation between old Gao and the eight men outside the forest clearly reached Chu Yang's ears. “You take Du Shiqing back now, and we won't pursue,” this sentence suddenly stirred something in Chu Yang's heart. He had already formed a rough guess about their route.

These people had a siege crossbow, and their discipline was strict; they certainly had a military background!

Chu Yang moved like a ghost, silently approaching this person. Suddenly, he pushed off with his feet and swooped down from the treetop like a hawk swooping down, his ten fingers like claws, fiercely reaching out!

Just as he was less than a丈 away from this person, an arrow suddenly whizzed toward him. With this arrow, it seemed to be a signal, as at least thirty or forty arrows flashed through the air, emitting sharp whistles.

But aside from the first arrow being a threat, the others were clearly too late.

Chu Yang leaned back, the arrow tip grazing past his nose, his hands remained steady, grabbing downward.

Just by observing the enemy’s position, Chu Yang immediately changed his mind and took the initiative to attack. As long as this team discovered him, he could disrupt their rhythm with his speed during the chase, thus breaking their meticulous coordination!

What he needed to do now was not to kill the enemy but to first mess up their deployment!

Moreover, this person had the highest probability of being important; as long as he captured him, he might be able to dismantle this ambush!

He only had one chance to strike!

The man immediately noticed him, his eyes flickering. Despite his shock, he shouted loudly and jumped up swiftly. Before he could fully leap, the siege crossbow in his hands had already changed direction, and ten arrows shot out in unison toward Chu Yang, followed by a flash of a blade slashing fiercely toward Chu Yang's neck.
