When the royal capital turmoil occurred, Kohn had already left the royal capital.
He was a c-rank adventurer from the Duchy of Inberri.
That was a fact.
However, he also had a very close relationship with the duchy’s government.
Upon visiting the adventurers' guild in the royal capital, Kohn confirmed that a letter addressed to him had arrived.
"Go to the embassy immediately."
It was an extremely short message. Yet, because of its brevity, it conveyed a sense of urgency.

After verifying his identity there, he received a directive from the duchy’s government.
He grimaced as he checked the contents.
After throwing the directive into the fireplace and confirming that it had completely burned away, he left the room.
"There’s a lot of money involved, but as usual, the infiltration is way too dangerous..."
He muttered quietly, then proceeded to exit the royal capital.
As a result, he was not caught up in the turmoil of the royal capital.

To put it simply, it was an order for espionage activities.
The duchy had only been fully independent for ten years and was still a very young nation.
While the bureaucratic system was one thing, the intelligence organization, which was said to be excellent, was still quite small in scale.
However, for a small nation to survive, information gathering was crucial.
Thus, the duchy’s government had engaged loyal adventurers from among its ranks to participate in espionage activities.
Thanks to its resources, the Duchy of Inberri was among the relatively wealthy in terms of small nations, allowing it to employ such tactics.
Moreover, many of those selected had been involved in the duchy’s behind-the-scenes operations during the "Great War" a decade ago, striking blows against the federation from the shadows.
They were not disposable assets; they were highly useful personnel for the duchy, and they had become one of the factors for the duchy gaining considerable power in just ten years.
Kohn was one of those adventurers.
And this time, Kohn’s destination was the capital Jakelea of the Handalu Federation.
