Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 67: The Horn Sound in the Candy Store 🎺🍭

Published: February 5, 2025

Green liquid transformed into countless raindrops, completely drenching the soldiers at the front.

Screams erupted in quick succession.

The high-quality combat suits provided no protection at all; the liquid corroded large holes into them, releasing faint black smoke. Many soldiers hurriedly tore off their clothes, only to discover in horror that the areas splashed by the liquid were rapidly being corroded.

Among them, those most severely affected could no longer stand, with some body parts exposed, revealing ghastly white bones. In just a moment, these individuals lost all signs of life, turning into a pile of indistinguishable dead flesh.

Ye Zhongming knew that these ants, called battle ants, were not named lightly. They possessed a strict discipline and division of labor that other monsters lacked, as well as mature combat skills.

Although these Purple Cloud Battle Ants were only level one evolution, they could sweep away many higher-level mutated beings when gathered in groups.

In his past life, there was a terrifying record where over a million Purple Cloud Battle Ants bloodily swept through a reasonably sized desolate land, turning it into a true dead zone. It was not until much later that survivors discovered that the desolate land had been devoid of any life. When the investigation results were released, humanity was shocked, considering that the strongest lord in that desolate area was a level seven mutated lifeform, completely destroyed by a million level one battle ants.

The saying "many ants can kill an elephant" somewhat applied to the apocalypse.

Another aspect of the Purple Cloud Battle Ants' power was that they displayed different abilities during their evolution. For instance, the battle ants spitting out corrosive acid from behind were Law Ants, responsible for long-range attacks. The corrosive power of their acid was many times stronger than aqua regia. Essentially, humans could not escape unscathed unless they had special abilities, occupations, or reached six-star level or above.

The ones charging towards the soldiers in the front were called Blade Ants. They had much stronger and sharper blade feet than their counterparts, with harder shells and greater speed.

In addition to these two types of battle ants, there were also Needle Ants, which had several black bone spurs on their ribbed sides. These bone spurs could be launched, wielding power comparable to a crossbow, and they moved silently, making them incredibly stealthy and difficult to defend against. After shooting out the bone spurs, Needle Ants would quickly replenish them, regrowing within about a week and fully restoring their combat strength.

After the Law Ants finished their attack, they lay back down, and immediately, Blade Ants came over to protect them in the center. These Law Ants were rare in the entire population and were more fragile than their kind, thus becoming the focus of protection.

After this wave of attacks, at least over twenty soldiers lost their lives, with an equal number injured and temporarily out of combat. If the corroded areas did not receive timely treatment, most of them would end up with disabilities.

The sudden monster attack disrupted the rhythm of the troop's advance, causing chaos within the entire unit.

This was understandable; the military had not fought in a war for too long during peacetime. The soldiers had never seen blood before, and the armed forces stationed in the city were merely a conventional defense unit, primarily engaged in disaster relief, never having fought in any battles.

Now that they faced real bloodshed against these non-human monsters, their performance was actually commendable.

Taking advantage of the chaos among humans, the Blade Ants had already charged in, their blade feet gleaming coldly in the setting sun.

Captain Ye and the commanding officers understood that they could not allow these creatures to break into the ranks; otherwise, a rout would be inevitable! Those things' blade feet could cut through even the hard outer skin of cars in motion!
