Chapter
The Fire Elemental has a total of ten abilities, two of which are common to all elemental spirits: spatial immunity and voracious appetite.
To Ye Zhongming, these two energies seemed more like passive skills.
Besides these, the other eight abilities are: Lava Affinity, Mad Stone Fire Rain, Sea of Flame, Catastrophic Fire Meteor, Sky-Connecting Fire Lanterns, Shockwave Circle, Blazing Guardian, and Heavenly Fire Web.
Seeing these abilities, Ye Zhongming quickly understood what they were, as he had essentially experienced them before.
The Lava Affinity ability is a semi-passive, semi-active skill that allows control over magma, usage of magma, and even recovery using magma; one can practice while submerged in it as well.
This aspect… is somewhat similar to Red Hair, though Red Hair feels more like an amateur.
Thanks to this ability, the Fire Elemental was able to control those magma attacks previously.
Mad Stone Fire Rain is an offensive skill that corresponds to the previous magma eruption that hit Ye Zhongming, sending countless stones flying. However, once this skill is controlled, it can take on many forms; the attack that targeted Ye Zhongming was just one of them, while the Fire Elemental can adapt based on terrain, target location, and other factors.
The Sea of Flame ability, on the other hand, seems to have more severe limitations; at least, that's how Ye Zhongming sees it, as it simply flew over him from above.
However, when conditions allow, this ability is quite powerful, forcing you to take lava baths—just thinking about it is hot.
Catastrophic Fire Meteor refers to the three flaming boulders that fell from the sky earlier. This ability, in fact, was not utilized well by the Fire Elemental; if it had gone all out, its power would have been far greater. It's likely that it was holding back, preserving energy for the end.
The Blazing Guardian is a summoning skill; the two Flame Giants that the Fire Elemental summoned before—one for melee, one for ranged attacks—caused a fair amount of trouble for Ye Zhongming.
There are many types of such transforming guardians, whether they be melee, ranged, physical, or magical; it all depends on how the Fire Elemental controls and allocates its energy at that moment.
The final three abilities are those fire lanterns that appeared when Ye Zhongming was atop the giant peak: Sky-Connecting Fire Lanterns, Shockwave Circle, and Heavenly Fire Web.
These skills might seem to deal with fire’s high temperature damage, but there are still significant differences.
Sky-Connecting Fire Lanterns is an area skill, not strictly an active attack, but it can greatly restrict a target's movements. Once a target touches the Sky-Connecting Fire Lanterns, they will trigger an explosion, causing extremely high fire damage within a small area, while also leaving a special mental imprint. If this imprint reaches a certain level, it can inflict permanent damage on the target’s mental strength.
Shockwave Circle is an excellent area attack ability, relying entirely on fire damage. The temperature within this circle is at its peak, with very few substances able to withstand melting. The longer a target is exposed to the fire, the more intense the damage becomes, potentially drawing in flames from other parts of the Shockwave Circle.
Heavenly Fire Web is also an area attack, albeit slower, but it incorporates cutting power into the fire damage, creating the effect of sharp blades with high temperatures. Once covered, evasion becomes nearly impossible; one can only find a way to endure it, but the blade-like effect is terrifying and nearly indestructible.
After reviewing these abilities, Ye Zhongming felt that the skills seemed a bit limited, and their power was not as strong as he had imagined.
But he quickly realized the truth.
These abilities are actually controlled by the Fire Elemental itself. This little fellow, how should he put it, didn’t perform particularly well in such an environment; it wasn’t especially good at combat.
