CHAPTER TEXT:
"Two-in-One," Longku said while stealing a glance at the high-ranking clan leader before hastily lowering his gaze.
He felt a bit strange. This news was supposed to be very good, indicating that the final target was almost determined. As long as he was given some time to investigate who had visited Divine Artisan City and who could potentially have connections with major clans or even super clans, or who had recently left the Survivor Fortress, it was highly likely that the ultimate target could be established.
Even if they couldn't confirm the target, it would still greatly assist the investigation and expedite the process significantly.
In such a short time, a case that was as difficult as searching for a needle in the sea was about to be solved by the Tarros Red Dwarf. Wasn't this news worth celebrating?
Why did the clan leader not seem excited... no, not unhappy, rather, disappointed? Unsatisfied?
Longku couldn't quite understand and could only lower his head, waiting for Heiting Yanting to speak.
"You did well." Heiting Yanting complimented.
This praise was sincere; Longku had been very efficient in his recent tasks, indicating that he was capable and clever.
However, he lacked political awareness.
Heiting Yanting shook his head inwardly.
Heiting Yanting had high hopes for Longku, which was why he entrusted him with this matter. If he could break through and reach his peak one day, there was a great chance he would become a divine artisan, and given his age, it wouldn't be impossible for him to become the future clan leader.
However, it seemed that his sensitivity to certain matters was insufficient, and his thinking was too straightforward, just like most of the clan members. It appeared he needed more training, but in such matters, talent was crucial, and it was highly likely that Longku wouldn't learn, and even if he understood, he probably wouldn't apply it flexibly in the future.
On the surface, the Tarros Red Dwarfs were investigating the chaos in Divine Artisan City, and once the various clans learned the cause, they all showed a decent level of cooperation. Thanks to the Tarros Red Dwarfs' strength over the years and the flourishing era of the three divine artisans, all the races, including the super clans, had given them face, allowing their actions to be reckless without facing any strong resistance.
Outwardly, it was Longku handling this investigation, but secretly, there was another dwarven team operating, tasked with utilizing the influence of the situation to benefit the Tarros Red Dwarfs.
In a conventional sense, this business was quite ordinary. Information systems, underground black markets, resource point occupations, etc., were all solid operations. With Longku causing a stir on the surface from time to time and occasionally killing some people, numerous benefits would soon flow into the Tarros Red Dwarfs' coffers.
To put it bluntly, while it seemed that for the past few months the dwarfs had been searching for the perpetrator to recover their losses, they had already compensated for the losses from the chaos in Divine Artisan City long ago, and in the future, they would recover even more!
Having tasted the benefits, Heiting Yanting naturally hoped this matter wouldn't end so quickly; in his view, a cosmic year was a suitable timeframe.
If it were too short, the dwarfs wouldn’t gain enough, and if it were too long, it would exceed the tolerance limits of other races.
If they followed Longku's suggestion to investigate, even though it could be somewhat difficult, in another two months it would be about right. Heiting Yanting felt that would be unsatisfactory and regrettable. Given this, he naturally wouldn’t show any signs of happiness, and maintaining a stoic expression was already quite deep for him.
"However, you should send someone to secretly visit that Survivor Fortress first. Focus on investigating according to the current progress order. Once you have confirmed information from the visit, report back."
