The two paused for a moment, then quickly realized the reason.
Although they had sealed themselves off, preventing their bodily scent from spreading, and had changed their clothes to eliminate any bloody smell, they had overlooked one critical detail. When Pao Bai killed Zimu, he had exerted significant force, using multiple sets of equipment to lure out Zimu's abilities, employing a strategy of exchanging injuries, and every action was aimed at securing the final victory. The poison that Pao Bai had injected into his own body...
Even though they had won, Pao Bai was severely injured. The antidote he left behind could resolve the poison, but his wounds were grave and nearly untreatable. It was only through taking medication and using both internal and external treatments after Jie Su arrived that he had managed to turn the situation around.
Now, he was still unable to fight; he could only move without impediment.
Everyone had forgotten that Pao Bai had applied medicine to himself; even though most of it had been absorbed by his body, there would still be remnants of the scent.
The monster could smell the faint traces left by the healing of several individuals and would undoubtedly notice Pao Bai's scent.
Its retreat only showed that it had no confidence in dealing with the three of them. If they didn’t leave now, they might soon face an unknown number of these life forms.
The three quickly made their way to a cave entrance they had previously explored, which extended upward. This aligned with their judgment that they were in an underground cavern; moving upward would bring them closer to escape.
However, just as they entered the cave, sounds suddenly erupted from all directions, rushing toward the cavern they had just occupied.
They could only keep running.
It wasn’t that they didn’t want to stay hidden; they just had no idea how many life forms were converging from various directions. Their current passage was right next to the previous one, which was the only route for those life forms.
Ultimately, the three were still too unfamiliar with the area. With no light in the passage, after relying on Ye Zhongming's sharp senses to evade several waves of life forms, they were still blocked in a passage by two waves of creatures.
Two luminous orbs lit up, hung on Jie Su and Ye Zhongming.
Since they couldn’t hide, they had no choice but to fight.
“Are they parasites?!” Jie Su exclaimed.
The life forms blocking their sides recoiled under the glow of the light orbs, retreating beyond the illuminated area. Having lived in dark environments for so long, they were momentarily unaccustomed to the brightness.
However, this would only last a moment; soon, they would charge madly at them.
Although there were no records of these parasites in the All Races of the Universe, their forms were clearly recognizable as related to parasites.
The discovery of unrecorded parasites here indicated that either these were newly emerged species or extremely ancient types that had proliferated into the present.
If it was the former, it suggested that the planet they were on was currently enveloped by slave races. To return, they would need this planet to be in the direction of attention from the All Races of the Universe, and then wait for the guiding sun. If it was the latter... they didn’t know what to do.
“Which side?”
Pao Bai stood behind the two and asked.
They couldn’t stay here defending themselves, waiting for an attack; they had to break through.
“Toward Zhong Ming’s side,” Jie Su replied. Although he knew his overall strength was slightly higher than Ye Zhongming’s, in this kind of place, he was inferior.
Rather than force it, it was better to assist from the back.
“Alright, on the count of three, get ready to start.”
Ye Zhongming decisively responded, pulling out a crimson condensation level war knife, one of the few remaining items in their spatial equipment.
Due to the inability to stack spatial equipment, both he and Jie Su Pao Bai could only carry one or two items, mostly filled with medicines and materials needed for previous formations, with very little in the way of supplies.
