Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 2174: Miscommunication 📡

Published: February 12, 2025

Three people tumbled out of the teleportation array, each feeling quite uncomfortable.

The sensation of their bodies being torn apart during the teleportation process wouldn’t have been a big deal if they were at their peak condition. However, one of them was unconscious while the other two were injured. After the teleportation ended, their injuries worsened, even jolting the unconscious Pao Bai awake, brought back to consciousness by the pain.

“Are you okay?” Jie Su and Ye Zhongming helped Pao Bai up and asked.

The silver commander responded with a grunt.

“Is the location off?” Jie Su whispered as he looked around at the surrounding darkness.

The two men realized that after teleporting, they found themselves enveloped in pitch blackness, with the air thick and carrying a faint metallic smell.

However, at their level, they didn’t need to rely entirely on their eyes; they could sense their surroundings and knew there was no immediate danger.

“Yeah, but I don’t know how far off we are,” Ye Zhongming whispered back.

“Then… what about that finger?”

Once the coordinates for the teleportation array were set, there shouldn’t have been any mistakes. They had set their coordinates to their original location, which was inside Ye Zhongming's tent. Since they weren’t appearing at the designated location, it meant that accuracy had been compromised. The most likely reason was the attack from the peak expert of the Hall People before they left.

They didn’t understand the extent of what seemed to be a casual attack from a peak expert, but the energy contained within it should have influenced the teleportation array, causing them to arrive in an unknown place.

With this speculation, the mood of the three men soured because they didn’t know where they had ended up. Were they still near Black Book Summit? Or close to Layered Water Desolation? Or had they completely left the planet and ended up in some spatial rift?

If it were the latter two possibilities, getting back would be extremely difficult.

“It shouldn’t be a spatial rift; there’s a smell here.”

Although Pao Bai was heavily injured, the medicine he prepared was very effective. He had already recovered a bit; while he wasn’t able to fight, communicating was no problem.

The other two nodded. There was a very faint metallic smell in the air, indicating that life had once existed here. Since that was the case, it wouldn’t be a place isolated from the world with no way out. Even if they were on some planet, there was always a glimmer of hope for returning, albeit a slim one.

“Let’s explore first. We should find a nearby place to recover from our injuries,” Ye Zhongming suggested. He then took out a luminous orb, which was a sphere capable of emitting light, somewhat similar to fluorescent sticks on Earth but brighter, with a wider illumination range and longer duration.

Under the light, the three of them saw that the surroundings were entirely composed of rough gray-black rocks, and they were somewhat surprised.

How should one put it? Half happy, half worried.

The happiness came from the light confirming that there had been life in this environment, even suggesting that there had been recent activity. Since that was the case, even if they were temporarily trapped, they could still survive.

After all, if other forms of life could survive here without demanding much in terms of quality, then experts like them could survive too.

The worry came from the traces, which indicated that the life forms here likely weren’t part of the All Races of the Universe, but rather some other type of beings. Furthermore, the entire area resembled a natural cave, interconnected in all directions, and they had no idea where to go. Once they ventured out, returning would be difficult.

“How many light orbs do you have?” Ye Zhongming asked the other two.

“Two.”

“I have three.”

It was normal for each person to carry only one or two light orbs, as one orb could continuously illuminate for dozens of hours.
