Kalan Ka looked out of the window at the training ground. There were very few people out there, with only a handful seriously engaged in training.
These days, due to the situation with Commander Qing Tong, the entire Bronze Camp was filled with anxiety. The already unstable Star Eye Clan's third-level combat team seemed to have lost even the last bit of their training enthusiasm.
Everyone felt a sense of confusion about the future, including Kalan Ka himself.
He initially thought he was the most likely candidate to replace Commander Qing Tong.
Some said that the position of Commander Qing Tong was cursed. Most of those who held the position did not end well; over half died in battle, a third were assassinated, while others left due to illness, disability, crimes, or betrayal.
But Kalan Ka didn't care. He had worked with several previous Commanders and knew very well how they ended their terms.
He believed that if he sat in that position, he would do better than any Commander in the last twenty years.
Unfortunately, every time hope arose, the clan's final choice was never him. Especially this time, there were no strong competitors left; he had even temporarily taken charge of the Bronze Camp for some time, and the entire Star Eye Clan believed he was just one announcement away from the position.
But when the announcement came, Kalan Ka found that it was still not him.
His mentality collapsed completely.
He decided to resist and fight for what should rightfully be his.
If it were any other race, Kalan Ka probably wouldn't do this because it was challenging to oppose one's own mother clan alone.
Just look at the hundred and first generation of Commander Qing Tong, a remarkable talent, and yet he failed against the still-thriving Star Eye Clan.
But the current Star Eye Clan was different; the clan was too weak to withstand turmoil, even if it was the weakest Bronze Camp among the three main combat teams.
Moreover, the support from the Bronze Camp was one of Kalan Ka's sources of confidence.
Speaking of which, Kalan Ka had to thank that rookie first, as their delay in taking over had made the previously neutral bronze masked warriors grow dissatisfied, starting to lean towards him. Suddenly, Kalan Ka gained support from over seventy percent of the entire combat team, which was a stroke of luck he couldn't ignore.
As for today, he would let this rookie first know that since they had been putting off taking over, they might as well not bother.
Kalan Ka suddenly felt in high spirits; this feeling was something he hadn't experienced in a long time. Was the last time he felt this way when he first had a woman?
Among the few bronze masked warriors in the training ground, one suddenly let out a loud shout and used a skill. In Kalan Ka’s eyes, who was already a Vice Commander of fuleira with over ten thousand strength, it wasn't impressive, but he still felt it was quite good.
He even thought that once he officially ascended to the position of Commander, he would reward this diligent subordinate.
Footsteps approached, numerous but light, the sound of many Star Eye Clan warriors walking together. Kalan Ka knew his moment had arrived.
First came a knock on the door, followed by Ling Jiao's questioning voice.
It seemed that the rookie first who had unexpectedly come to visit had been pressured into recognizing their situation; otherwise, they would likely have thrown a tantrum and stormed off in anger.
Ling Jiao was the first to push the door open, giving Kalan Ka a proud glance. As he stepped aside, Kalan Ka saw Ye Zhongming wearing the Bronze Mask of the Commander.
In that instant, Kalan Ka realized his expression was quite displeased. He knew it shouldn't be so, but he couldn't help it because he felt that mask should belong to him.
"Hello, I am Ye Zhongming."
The King of Cloud Summit extended his hand towards Kalan Ka.
Kalan Ka looked at the outstretched hand, knowing that this was a kind of greeting from the rookie first’s home planet. He sneered and stared at Ye Zhongming for several seconds before finally shaking his hand in response to the other’s awkward expression, unsure whether to retract his hand.
