"What are you making?"
"A caterpillar~?"
Pochi and Tama peeked at my hands from both sides as I was crafting tools.
"This is a fly lure."
"A caterpillar~?"
"It's not a bug."
"It's a lure that pretends to be a bug to catch fish."
Though they probably didn't fully understand, Pochi and Tama nodded in agreement with their arms crossed, saying, "I see~" and "Got it."
Since it was just finished, I took the two of them to a nearby water spot.
Not only in the Forest of Boruenan, but fish are plentiful at water spots throughout this world. The only place without them was Baron Muno's Domain.
I only made one set of fishing gear because, besides the rod guides, making reels was troublesome. You cast by swinging the rod back and forth to give the fly lure momentum toward the target spot.
Maybe because the fish were curious, as soon as the fly hit the water, a big fish bit immediately.
"Biting frenzy~?"
"Am-amazing! We already caught one. The fly lure master is incredible!"
Tama expressed delight in a relaxed voice, while Pochi, overly excited, bit his words and waved his arms wildly—a stark contrast.
This time, I adjusted the line length to the rod's length and dropped the fly on the water’s surface. After a short pause, a large-mouthed trout-like fish, similar to before, snapped at it. To think that 50-centimeter-class fish are this easy to catch—it’s really biting frenzy.
I asked Pochi and Tama to wait just three minutes, then quickly made two more rods and two lures and handed them over.
"Now, give it a try."
"Gambles~?"
"Let's do our best!"
Pochi swung his rod wildly, snagging the hook on a tree branch, while Tama caught an overly large fish and nearly got dragged into the pond. Amid these small mishaps, by evening, we had caught over 100 fish—a big haul. We released the excess that wouldn’t fit into the fish tank, but it was still almost overflowing.
"Fish festival~?"
"Today is fish day?"
"Let’s make the fish spit out the mud first. But today, sorry, we'll use the usual whale meat for the dish."
It’s certainly delicious, but we were getting a bit tired of it.
"No problem! I like whale meat as much as Chiodol!"
"Fried food~? Cutlets?"
We’ve also had fried food continuously, and steak was yesterday. I want some vegetables, so maybe a different dish would be better.
"Right, hamburger didn’t go well with it, so how about sukiyaki?"
"Mr. Hamburg is versatile!"
"Sukiyaki, I love sukiyaki~"
"Of course, the sukiyaki great deity is loved too!"
With that decided, dinner was sukiyaki.
We tried simmering the fish a few days later. Pochi almost cried because of the many small bones, but Lulu patiently taught how to remove the bones, so he ate it all without leaving any.
Well then, what shall we do tomorrow?
