Today, three chapters are posted simultaneously.
This is the third chapter.
After showing the home-cum-office... we boarded the shared carriage once more, this time heading to the city center.
"As you can see, there are many tall buildings here. If you ever get lost, just find a main street and walk toward the city center—you'll end up here. So, if you don't know where you are, use this as a landmark."
"The house from earlier is the same, but I've heard that most of Lord Takebayashi’s shops and facilities are concentrated in the northeastern part of the city. If you can get here, you should have a good idea of where you are."
"Thanks to district reorganization, the roads should be easier to understand than before. Unless you’re someone who easily gets lost, you should be fine.
Also, around here are branches of various Guilds, and I personally know many people here, so I’ll introduce you."
With that, we first visited the Adventurers' Guild closest to us.
Inside the building, it was a bit late in the morning, so there weren’t many adventurers around. Some seemed to be idling due to lack of suitable requests or having a day off, but no one was at the reception.
It's rare for a general woman, especially one well-dressed, to visit the Adventurers' Guild full of scruffy men, so naturally, Ms. Eleonora attracted attention. Since no one was waiting, let’s get this done quickly.
"Oh, isn’t that Ryoma-kun?"
The voice came from Ms. Mayleen, the receptionist of the Adventurers' Guild. She seemed to be working on some paperwork. Perfect timing—I greeted her and introduced Ms. Eleonora.
"So, that’s the situation."
"Got it. If anything happens when Ryoma-kun isn’t around, I’ll contact her.
Eleonora-san, nice to meet you. Whether it’s about work or not, if you ever have any troubles, feel free to come by anytime. If you want, I can listen and help."
"Thank you very much. I look forward to working with you."
"By the way, do you want to meet the guild master? His work should be done for now, so I think you can meet him."
"Hey, hey, hey! What’s all this going on about?"
While we were chatting pleasantly, a man suddenly raised his voice. He gave us a suspicious look and slowly approached from the bulletin board by the wall. I didn’t know him at all, but it was clear those words were directed at us. And they definitely weren’t friendly.
Feeling the tense atmosphere, other people’s eyes gathered, but I was more concerned about Ms. Eleonora. She casually checked inside her clothes—probably hiding some kind of self-defense weapon.
However, the guy didn’t seem to notice and kept glaring only at me while approaching.
"Bringing a woman here, huh? I thought you were a customer, but you’re just a brat calling yourself an adventurer? And a secretary too? Rich kids playing adventurers for fun! We risk our lives every day here!"
"Hey, you—"
"And you! What’s with ‘meeting the guild master’? Do they just let anyone meet the guild master here? Sucking up to the rich, huh?! Huh?!"
The man started harassing Ms. Mayleen too, but his behavior gradually became suspicious. At first, it was complaints directed at us, but it quickly became clear that he was a new adventurer in town whose work wasn’t going well... basically just venting his frustrations.
"Getting harassed at the Guild" is a predictable event in stories, but why is it happening now, and in such a trivial place? Come to think of it, even those who are like underlings now were harassed when they first arrived. Maybe it’s just that many adventurers are rough around the edges. Let’s leave it at that.
"This city’s full of annoying people! Even the laundry shop that only does chores kicked me out!"
"Laundry shop? Ours?"
"Yours?"
I couldn’t help but speak up at the words I heard. They reacted to my words too.
When it comes to laundry shops in Gimul, the only one I know is ours. So if he’s talking about being kicked out, is this the same guy Lord Calm mentioned—a hopeless person!
"A drunk troublemaker banned from entering, huh?"
