Chapter 322: Shun Yi's Home
After the two finished breakfast, they checked out of the room. Naturally, Zhao Hai still paid for the room; this was a conscious decision as a young master. Paying for the room was a matter of status — someone of his standing simply couldn't leave without paying.
Once they got into their vehicles, they slowly left Blanca City. Shun Yi sat outside Zhao Hai's car, driving alongside Xu Wanying.
Today, Shun Yi's attire was much more normal; he wore a simple warrior outfit and sat beside Xu Wanying, looking quite honest.
Xu Wanying had already told him last night about Zhao Hai's remarkable abilities, explaining that if he dared to betray Zhao Hai, he would definitely end up as an undead being.
Shun Yi certainly didn't want to become an undead being, so he behaved very honestly and even asked Zhao Hai what he disliked, which is why he wore a plain warrior outfit today.
Shun Yi wasn't unpleasant to look at; he had a doll-like face and a short stature, which made him appear much younger than his actual age.
Zhao Hai also inquired about Shun Yi's strength. Shun Yi practiced the invisibility technique used by death warriors, was skilled with poisonous hidden weapons, and could apply makeup; it could be said he was naturally suited to be an assassin. Moreover, his combat ability was quite strong, equivalent to a level 6 warrior, and if it came to assassination, even a seventh-level warrior wouldn't escape his clutches.
Zhao Hai was quite satisfied with Shun Yi's abilities. With Shun Yi having sworn a blood oath, Zhao Hai believed he wouldn't dare to deceive him. However, he still decided to observe Shun Yi for a couple of days before deciding whether to bring him into the space. If Shun Yi turned out to be untrustworthy, Zhao Hai wouldn't be polite — he would simply turn him into an undead being, and besides, as an undead being, Shun Yi would still retain his current abilities.
Shun Yi was indeed very honest. He had recognized his situation; he was now Zhao Hai's slave, and if Zhao Hai wanted him dead, he wouldn't survive. Under these circumstances, he had to be obedient.
For lunch, they had something simple, but it was much better than what Ryan and the others had. While Ryan and the others ate regular dry rations, Zhao Hai's group enjoyed lamb and mutton soup.
The lamb and mutton soup were leftovers from when they were on the grasslands. During the expedition, Wells and the others had killed quite a few sheep, and after their great victory, they had so many mountain goats that Wells naturally wouldn't bother with the already cooked lamb and mutton soup. Thus, they still had plenty left, enough to last them for a while.
Now that it had snowed on the continent, the weather wasn't warm at all. Eating hot steaming lamb and drinking delicious mutton soup in such weather was quite enjoyable.
That night, because they missed the inn, Zhao Hai and the others could only rest in a small village. This village, named Cat Ear Village, had only a few dozen households, and the highest authority was the village chief, who was not officially recognized by the state. The people in the village all belonged to a large clan, and the village chief was the clan leader, who held considerable authority in the village.
However, in the eyes of the nobility, this village chief was nothing significant. They had never encountered any high officials; the highest official they had ever seen was a tax collector from the city, who wasn't even a noble. So when they saw Zhao Hai's grand entourage, they were immediately frightened. Upon hearing that Zhao Hai was a viscount and Ryan was a princess, they all knelt down, bowing their heads as if they were hammering garlic.
Eventually, Zhao Hai had to calm and scare them to get them to act normally. The village chief quickly cleared out a few of the best houses for Zhao Hai and his group to stay in.
Zhao Hai wasn't polite at all and moved in right away. He also asked the village chief to invite the best cooks from the village to prepare meals for them. The village chief quickly agreed, bringing out the best cooks in the village to prepare food for Zhao Hai and his group. The ingredients were supplied by Zhao Hai; the women only had to cook.
