CHAPTER 323: Trap
Xu Wanying followed Shun Yi's gaze and looked over. It was a typical farmhouse courtyard, surrounded by stone walls. The courtyard wasn't very large, and since it was winter, he couldn't see what was growing inside.
There were four earthen houses. In places like this, most families built houses with mud bricks, rarely using stone. Mud brick houses were warmer, while stone houses tended to be cooler, so the houses here were generally made of mud bricks.
Now it was dark, but from a distance, light flickered out from the small house, radiating a sense of warmth that made Xu Wanying feel a bit dazed.
At that moment, Shun Yi suddenly twitched his ears. It seemed he had heard unusual sounds coming from his home, the noise resembling the sound of armor rubbing together. This made Shun Yi pause briefly, and just as he was about to get up, a voice suddenly said, "Don't move. Your family has been kidnapped. Going now might put them in danger."
It was Zhao Hai's voice. Shun Yi was taken aback; he clearly remembered Zhao Hai hadn't come with them. However, Xu Wanying was already accustomed to such events. He straightened his face and said, "Young master, why are you here?"
Zhao Hai nodded and replied, "I originally didn't want to come, but I noticed there were people at Shun Yi's house, so I came. Alright, stop the car. There are ten people at Shun Yi's home. Their family members are all gathered in one room, with one person watching over them while the remaining nine are lying in ambush outside. It seems they are preparing to deal with Shun Yi. It's strange; it looks like they've been here for a while. Do they know Shun Yi was coming back today?"
Zhao Hai had seen the situation at Shun Yi's home through the surveillance cameras. He just couldn't understand why the opponent would lie in ambush there beforehand. After all, Shun Yi's home shouldn't have been easy to find.
Zhao Hai turned to Shun Yi and asked, "Does anyone know your family's location? How could they have tracked down your house? Just by looking at their faces, it’s obvious they know your identity; otherwise, they wouldn’t have sent so many people to deal with you. Plus, they all have shields and wear armor, clearly prepared for your hidden weapons."
Shun Yi was stunned for a moment, then shook his head and replied, "No one should know about my family. I usually act alone. Although this place isn’t extremely remote, it’s still rather ordinary. How could anyone pay attention to my family?"
Zhao Hai nodded and said, "Alright, no need to dwell on that. Let's rescue your family first, then deal with those guys." After finishing his sentence, Zhao Hai moved his hand, and a projection appeared before them, showing the situation inside Shun Yi's house.
Shun Yi's mother, wife, and two children were all gathered in the easternmost room. A person in armor, holding a tower shield in one hand and a great sword in the other, stood inside the room, coldly watching Shun Yi's family.
Shun Yi couldn't help but feel a surge of emotion, but Zhao Hai spoke in a low voice, "Cai'er, take care of that guy quietly." Cai'er responded and, under Shun Yi's gaze, a vine silently appeared behind the armored warrior. The vine then transformed into a fine point and swiftly pierced into the back of the man's head. The man trembled and fell silent, but the vine did not retract immediately. Since it remained behind him, Shun Yi's family did not notice anything unusual.
Zhao Hai nodded and said, "Alright." With that, he moved his hand, and the three of them suddenly appeared in front of Shun Yi's family. Just as they recognized Shun Yi and were about to shout, he quickly said, "Don’t make a sound, follow me." This was what Zhao Hai had instructed him to say.
Seeing Shun Yi, his family felt a sense of security and immediately nodded, tightly closing their mouths. They then disappeared from the room. Zhao Hai even brought along the corpse of the warrior that Cai'er had killed into the space.
Once they entered the space, Shun Yi's family was taken aback. Zhao Hai looked at their expressions and smiled slightly, "Alright, Shun Yi, this is our biggest secret. Once you know about this place, you won’t even have the power to betray me."
