Chapter 321: Apology
Mu Tou's words left Zhao Hai and the others stunned. Then Mu Tou continued, "You see, we just returned from the grasslands, and we obtained our titles from Duke Ivan. Everything seems to indicate that we are connected to Duke Ivan and the grasslands. Previously, the only person linked to Duke Ivan and the grasslands was the dark mage Zhao Hai. Therefore, the one who issued this mission likely wants to use this attack to determine if you, young master, are a dark mage. If they can confirm you are a dark mage, they can be certain of your identity, which would be extremely disadvantageous for us."
Zhao Hai and Laura exchanged glances and nodded. They also thought Mu Tou's speculation was quite accurate; otherwise, they couldn't find a better explanation for the attack.
At this moment, Zhao Hai turned his gaze to Shun Yi and said, "You should have guessed my identity by now, right? Speak honestly, are you willing to follow me? If you are, then swear a blood oath to me with the same loyalty as Wan Ying. I will not mistreat you. Otherwise, you should know what my methods are, right?"
Zhao Hai's methods had already gained some notoriety in the Versailles Principality. People knew he liked to turn those who opposed him into undead beings, enslaving them as his most loyal servants.
Of course, this was also a common tactic of dark mages, and it was a reason why ordinary people tended to avoid confrontation with dark mages. No one liked the idea of serving others even after death.
Shun Yi knelt on the ground and said, "Yes, I am willing." After saying this, he bit his hand and swore a blood oath. Zhao Hai felt the same sensation he had when Xu Wanying made his blood oath, and he believed Shun Yi was not deceiving him.
Zhao Hai looked at Shun Yi and said, "Alright, from now on, you will follow me. Wan Ying, take him down and explain the rules here." Xu Wanying acknowledged and led Shun Yi away.
Zhao Hai glanced at Mu Tou standing at the door and smiled, "Good job, Mu Tou. You actually figured out what we hadn’t thought of."
Mu Tou chuckled, "Young master, it's just that you think about too many things at once, so you didn't consider this. My mind is simple, so I naturally came to the conclusion."
Zhao Hai laughed heartily, "You really are getting more interesting. Enough, we've had enough excitement for tonight. I think they won't dare to come again. You can go rest."
Mu Tou agreed and turned to leave.
In a hotel like this, their luxury suite had three to four rooms. The Brown Hotel had a suite with three rooms. Shun Yi, Xu Wanying, and Mu Tou shared one room, while Laura and her companions shared another, and Zhao Hai had one for himself. In fact, this arrangement was just for show; they preferred to rest in their space. However, since so much had happened tonight, they decided not to go to the space and just rest in the hotel.
While Zhao Hai and the others rested peacefully, the other guests in the hotel could not find rest. First, the hotel owner, Brown, was rescued from his room. He had not suffered serious injuries, only knocked unconscious. Upon waking and realizing what had happened, he became even more distressed. He had no idea how to explain tonight's events to Zhao Hai and the others.
Brown had a bit of a background; he was the brother-in-law of the city lord of Blanca City, which is why he could run this hotel. However, the city lord was merely a viscount, and Zhao Hai was also a viscount. Ryan was even more noteworthy; her carriage bore the emblem of the Versailles Family, making it clear that Brown could not afford to offend either of them. Yet, both had been attacked, leaving Brown feeling desperate.
Ryan felt unsettled as well. She had never expected Wells to be a triple-element mage. Generally, most people in the continent had a single magic affinity, only able to learn one type of magic. Those with dual affinities were considered geniuses, while triple-affinity mages were nearly unheard of.
However, even triple-element mages typically specialized in one type of magic, as learning multiple types could dilute focus. But Zhao Hai seemed to be proficient in all three types, which indicated a high level of magical talent—he was a genius.
