Chapter 166: Phantom Beasts vs. Magical Pets

Zhao Hai chuckled lightly, “Miss Laura, you're being too serious. I will need your help with this matter in the future.”

Just then, Ser walked in again, but this time he was carefully holding a large box. The box was over a meter long, more than half a meter wide, and about forty centimeters thick. He held it as if it were a newborn baby.

Curious, Zhao Hai looked at Ser, then turned to Laura with a puzzled expression, “Miss Laura, what is this?”

Laura smiled slightly, “This is a gift prepared for you, sir.” At that moment, Ser gently placed the box on the coffee table and slowly opened the lid.

Peeking inside, Zhao Hai saw some straw, and on top of it were five large eggs, each about forty centimeters long with a diameter of over ten centimeters. The most surprising part was that each egg was a different color: yellow, blue, red, cyan, and purple.

Zhao Hai gazed at the five eggs in confusion, when Galen exclaimed, “Fantasy beast colorful eggs!”

Zhao Hai was taken aback, “Fantasy beast colorful eggs? What are those?”

Galen looked at the five eggs and explained, “Phantom beasts are a very special type of magical beast, rarely seen on the continent. They don’t possess any real attack capabilities, but they have a unique ability: assistance. If someone obtains a phantom beast's egg, they can slowly incubate it and establish a contract with the phantom beast. This way, the phantom beast can assist its owner by attracting magical elements for combat. An adult phantom beast can even transform into weapons, armor, or a magic staff to help its master in battle, depending largely on the master’s will. That’s why there are living magic staffs or Living Armor on the continent.”

Zhao Hai was stunned. He never expected such items existed, and his eyes gleamed as he gazed at the eggs. Laura, however, watched Galen with a look of amazement. She knew that the existence of these fantasy beast eggs wasn't common knowledge, even among lower-ranked warriors and mages. She didn’t expect Galen to reveal it so easily, making her all the more curious about his background.

Galen examined the eggs closely, sighed, and said, “There’s no mistake; these are indeed fantasy beast eggs. Unlike other magical beast eggs, phantom beast eggs carry the innate attribute color. These eggs are likely associated with earth, lightning, water, wind, and fire elements. They are extremely valuable. Just these five eggs might be worth over fifty thousand gold coins, and they are priceless.”

Zhao Hai was shocked. He truly hadn’t thought these eggs would be so precious. No wonder Ser had been so careful; if they broke, it would be like throwing fifty thousand gold coins into the sea.

Zhao Hai gently closed the box, slowly closed his eyes, and leaned back in his chair without saying a word for a while. Seeing his expression, Laura felt a tightening in her heart. After spending some time together, she had gained some understanding of Zhao Hai. This gift was indeed quite valuable, and he might not accept it. Even if he did, he would likely want to return the favor. Seeing Zhao Hai's demeanor, she realized he was pleased with her gift and was probably contemplating what to give in return. If he thought his own gift wouldn’t match the value of these fantasy beast eggs, he might refuse to accept them.

Laura didn’t dare to interrupt Zhao Hai; she understood his temperament and knew that if he didn’t want to accept something, no amount of persuasion would change his mind.

After a long pause, Zhao Hai finally exhaled, opened his eyes, and turned to Laura, “Miss Laura, this gift is truly too precious. I initially didn’t want to accept it, but this gift is important to me, so I will accept it.”

Upon hearing Zhao Hai say this, Laura’s face lit up with joy. She was afraid he wouldn’t accept it, and since he did, she was thrilled. She quickly said, “This was originally a gift for you, sir. Please, don’t be polite.”
