Chapter Twelve: Shaking His Head
Sure enough, Zhao Hai had barely sat down for a while when Galen walked in, bowing to Zhao Hai as he said, "Young Master, I've arranged everything at home. I'll set off immediately."
Zhao Hai nodded and said, "There's no need to rush. Rest assured, those things are safe with me. Even if they stay here for ten or eight years, there won't be any problems. After you go, make sure to find some big merchants and sign long-term cooperation agreements with them. Also, remember, we will need to breed a large number of Blue-eyed Rabbits, and we must cooperate with them on this as well. If I guess correctly, the magic radish will impact the market, and its price might drop. We need to be prepared for that."
Galen nodded, and Zhao Hai pointed to the nearby seat and said, "Grandpa Galen, please sit down. I feel uncomfortable with you standing like this. There’s still quite a bit I want to discuss with you. Mu Tou, go get a breakfast for Grandpa Galen. Let him eat here today."
Mu Tou glanced at Galen, who nodded, and then Mu Tou turned to head towards the kitchen. Galen sat down, and Zhao Hai didn’t comment on it. He was well aware of Adam's behavior in the past. If Galen hadn’t been there as a steward, Adam would have been dead countless times already. Now he certainly wouldn’t envy Galen's authority.
Once Galen sat down, Zhao Hai continued, "Grandpa Galen, you know our current situation, so I hope you remember to keep a low profile. We are in this place now, and if we do something that the nobles cannot tolerate, it will be the end for us. Therefore, this cooperation must not be known to be related to us."
Galen nodded, and Zhao Hai sighed, "Although I don't know why those nobles let the Budah family off lightly and only transferred us to such a place, I believe we must have something they are concerned about. If they want to deal with us, it will cost them a great price. However, if they find out that the Budah family might rise again, they will stop at nothing to eliminate us. So we must remain low key. It may be frustrating, but it will allow the Budah family to survive until the day we rise again. For now, we can only maintain a low profile."
Galen's eyes reddened as he stood up and bowed to Zhao Hai, saying, "Young Master, please rest assured. I will handle this matter well."
Zhao Hai shook his head and said, "Grandpa Galen, don’t do that. Please sit down. Remember, the magic radish is just the first step. After a while, I will try to see if we can transform the black soil outside into normal plantable land. That would be even better. However, we will need more manpower, so you must acquire more slaves through various channels, regardless of their race, as long as they are useful and skilled. Generally, people won’t come here to take a look, but we still need to be cautious."
Galen nodded. He noticed that the Young Master had truly changed. The previous Young Master would not have thought of these things. This change was undoubtedly a good thing for the Budah family.
At this point, Mu Tou brought in Galen's breakfast. Zhao Hai glanced at it; it was quite simple, which made him shake his head. He turned to Galen and said, "Grandpa Galen, after the magic radish is sold, you need to buy some Blue-eyed Rabbits, some Long-tail Chickens, and some scaleless fish. The moat outside the castle is empty. I noticed that the water seems to be fresh and can support fish. Let's not worry about how much we can earn for now; we just need to make sure our lives are sustainable. When you go, don’t worry about how much magic radish they want; we can provide as much as they need. However, I think that the magic radish's market impact will hurt many people, and they will definitely investigate, so we must ensure they can’t trace anything back to us. Also, please buy more books, preferably on the plants and animals of the continent; these will be very useful to us. That's all I can think of for now; you can handle the rest. By the way, our defense power is too weak now, so you should pay more attention and recruit some combat-capable slaves. But this needs to be done gradually, with changing our lives as the primary goal."
