CHAPTER 79: The Scar Must Be Revealed

“Now that you’ve come to me, you worry that collaborating with me will raise the suspicion of the heaven-mending crown prince, and you want to stay out of it? Yet you say I shouldn’t seek your help?” Chu Yang sighed, “You’re getting on in years. Why are you speaking so nonsensically?”

“Hahahaha…” Upon hearing Chu Yang’s words, the guards of Iron Dragon City glared angrily; yet Iron Dragon himself burst into hearty laughter and strode out.

As he reached the door, he turned back, looking at Chu Yang: “I like these few swords of yours very much; but one hundred thousand taels of gold is too expensive; I do have plenty of rare and precious treasures. However, I still need to keep those to save lives for the soldiers and can’t trade them. But I really like your swords, what should we do about that?…”

Chu Yang was infuriated, having never seen someone so thick-skinned. It was clear he wanted Chu Yang to give him one.

With a hint of irritation, he said, “But I’m equally reluctant to part with these swords, so I naturally can’t give them to anyone, and the one I absolutely cannot give them to is you!”

“Hahahaha…” Iron Dragon laughed heartily, wiping the tears from his eyes, “Kid, you will give them to me; I guarantee it! When the time comes, I’ll pretend I don’t want them and make you offer them several times before I reluctantly accept; just wait.”

After saying this, he burst into another round of hearty laughter, leaving behind such an incoherent remark, turning, and walking out.

“Do you want me to beg you? Then you just wait!” Chu Yang snorted, “It’s not even dark yet, and you’re already dreaming big!”

Outside, a rustling sound arose, orderly and synchronized; in the span of just a few breaths, all the soldiers on the street had withdrawn without making a sound.

In the distance, the faint sound of uproar could be heard. The street began to revive.

Chu Yang turned back, about to say something when he suddenly gaped.

Only Gu Duxing remained in front of him; that strange girl had vanished without a trace. She had come here, seemingly just to ask the price, and hadn’t done anything else. She just disappeared…

“Why did she leave?” Chu Yang scratched his head.

“Who cares whether she left or not? I only ask you…” Gu Duxing looked at him solemnly, “Are you planning to get involved in the war between Iron Cloud Nation and the Great Zhao Empire?”

Chu Yang nodded slightly, “That’s right.”

“That’s an unwise decision! You and I are merely martial artists; you know what that means. You are not unaware of the status of martial artists in this world, nor are you oblivious to how the courts of various nations view them. Moreover, whether on the court or the battlefield, it is far more dangerous than in the martial arts world. I don’t think this is a wise decision.”

“I know this is not the path of a martial artist, I understand the dangers involved; I am very much aware that once I plunge in, I could die at any moment without a burial site. But I have my reasons for needing to intervene,” Chu Yang looked at Gu Duxing deeply and said, “Just as you would rather die a thousand times than not save Gu Miaoling, I have my similar reasons.”

Gu Duxing looked into Chu Yang’s eyes and saw a deep pain and yearning hidden within. That profound emotion was even more intense than his feelings for Gu Miaoling!

Gu Duxing slowly nodded. At this moment, he suddenly understood why Chu Yang wanted to help him rescue Gu Miaoling. Although Chu Yang hadn't explicitly stated it, Gu Duxing had already grasped his intentions.

Because Chu Yang also had such a beloved! Therefore, he could not allow such a beautiful person to perish, nor could he allow such sincere and beautiful feelings to vanish into thin air.

In that moment, Gu Duxing felt a surge of emotion.

“If you feel it’s dangerous, you can still back out now,” Chu Yang said calmly, “I will still do what I promised you.”
