CHAPTER 29: Heart of a Wolf, Lungs of a Dog
It must be said that Stone Thousand Mountain's feelings were indeed very accurate. His current misery was entirely caused by Chu Yang.
During this period, Chu Yang's care for Stone Thousand Mountain was "meticulous"; he came in every day to report his progress.
"Senior brother, how are you? I broke through to martial apprentice level five today."
"Senior brother, I broke through to level six today."
"I'm at level seven now..."
One good news after another pierced Stone Thousand Mountain's heart like arrows. His mood became extremely gloomy, and the recovery of his injuries slowed down even further. In fact, under such a terrible mood, there were even signs of his injuries worsening.
But what was most unacceptable for Stone Thousand Mountain was that, because he hated Chu Yang, he also began to hate Meng Chaoran and Tan Tan together with him. A deep-seated hatred! Why could Chu Yang progress so quickly? It must be that Meng Chaoran was biased. Surely there were spiritual pills with the ability to rapidly enhance one's cultivation in the master's possession! After all these years, he hadn’t given any to me, yet he gave them to Chu Yang!
With this thought, Stone Thousand Mountain's jealousy boiled over. Eventually, it even transformed into an unshakable desire for revenge!
After that day, although Meng Chaoran's attitude was somewhat cold, he still took care of Stone Thousand Mountain, even going so far as to expend his own energy to re-establish his meridians and heal his injuries, alleviating his pain, and searching high and low for spiritual medicine to aid in his recovery...
However, under the influence of such hatred, Stone Thousand Mountain even began to hate his own master, who had been so kind to him. He hated him to the point of gritting his teeth.
So, Stone Thousand Mountain planned to retaliate!
Outside of Stone Thousand Mountain's room was a small water pool. It was no larger than half a room and about ten feet deep. The mountain spring flowing down from the peak of Purple Bamboo Garden filled the pool and continued downward, winding into a small creek in the mountains.
Thus, the water in this pool was always crystal clear, being fresh and alive.
The water that Chu Yang and the others drank daily came from here.
Now, Stone Thousand Mountain lay on the bed, straining to support his body as he quietly pulled out a paper packet from under the bed. Inside was Five Watch Ghost Severing Powder. This mixture of five deadly poisons was colorless and tasteless, and it was said that there was no remedy once it was ingested! Mixed into food, it looked just like a delicious spice, further stimulating one's appetite.
Stone Thousand Mountain's lips trembled slightly, and his fingers shook. Yet, he resolutely pulled over the candle at the head of the bed, slowly breaking off a piece from the bottom...
His face alternated between red and pale, as if there was an intense internal conflict. But his fingers did not stop moving, carefully wrapping an entire packet of Five Watch Ghost Severing Powder into a wax pellet.
Then, he hid the wax pellet under the blanket.
Since I have already destroyed myself, why should I let you all have an easy time? Anyway, I'm seriously injured, and no matter what, even if everyone here dies, it will never be traced back to me!
If Purple Bamboo Garden is left with only me, the sect master will surely consider a bit of old affection and treat me kindly. In that case, I will still have a chance! I won't rely on you, Meng Chaoran, I can still stand up!
Let them die! Let them all die!
Now, Stone Thousand Mountain was in a state of near madness.
The sun slowly rose, slanting overhead. Stone Thousand Mountain turned his ear to listen, and then, gritting his teeth, he flicked his fingers, sending the wax pellet flying from his hand.
He heard a soft "thud" from outside; the wax pellet had clearly fallen into the pool.
Stone Thousand Mountain let out a long sigh, dejectedly lying back on the bed. A flicker of guilt and shame flashed in his eyes, but what followed was an inexpressible malice and madness. He gritted his teeth, one hand tightly gripping the thin blanket, exerting such force that he nearly tore a hole in it.
