As the three returned from the government office to the Skizblaznil Vessel,
they spotted a group of about twenty people walking.
Though they were not carrying swords, it was clear at a glance that they were close-combat fighters.
"Bracers and greaves? Are they going to fight with those?"
"I believe they're bludgeoners…"
Abel observed their equipment while Ryo responded from memory.
Neither of them was seeing them for the first time, as they were both familiar with the 'Refreshing Five Peaks'.
Perhaps sensing their gazes, the group approached.
They stopped at a certain distance, and only one person from the front came closer.
Naturally, Scotty stepped in front of Abel and placed his hand on his sword.
"Excuse me, we are the first unit of the Dazuru warrior legion. I am Mamadou, the vice-captain. Due to our duties, I would like to ask you a question. I don't believe I've seen you in the city, so could you please tell us your identities and names?"
"Does the warrior legion have the role of questioning suspicious individuals?"
With a faint smile, Abel returned the question to Mamadou.
"Yes, we do. You clearly do not appear to be ordinary merchants, nor do you seem like adventurers. To be frank, you are too strong. We have permission from the government office to verify the identities of such individuals."
"I see."
Abel nodded in response.
Ryo, who was next to him, had a happy expression.
Perhaps he felt good about the comment about being 'too strong.'
"We are from the Naitorei Kingdom of the Central Nations. We are accompanying the Fundebie Kingdom Fleet."
"Naitorei Kingdom…"
"I am King Abel the First."
"My apologies!"
Upon hearing Abel's introduction, Mamadou knelt and offered a deep bow.
The warriors behind him also bowed deeply in the same manner.
"No, it’s fine. Rather, I appreciate your serious dedication to your duties."
"Ah… It is a relief to hear that."
"You are the vice-captain Mamadou of the first unit of the warrior legion. Please continue to diligently perform your duties."
As Abel spoke, Mamadou bowed his head even deeper while still kneeling.
After parting ways with the warrior legion, Abel and his party continued on.
"We got to see the rumored warrior legion."
"Not exactly rumored, but they were indeed well-trained."
"Yes, yes. I don't know about their strength, but they were all doing their jobs properly and weren't being arrogant at all."
"Arrogant…"
For some reason, Ryo crossed his arms and nodded pompously, causing Abel to shake his head slightly.
"Considering the Medi Alaji Daimyo, it seems he wouldn’t allow such behavior, right? That person seems strict about misconduct, doesn't he? I believe he would also be quite harsh on those who threaten the people with violence."
"Can you tell just by looking?"
"Of course. If I couldn't, how could I be a king?"
"This is the power of someone who stands above others…"
Ryo was genuinely surprised.
Indeed, life experiences are etched into one’s face.
While it’s not absolute, one can grasp a general sense just by looking at someone if they've become accustomed to it.
Speaking a little further increases the accuracy.
After a minute of conversation, one would hardly miss the mark.
This was the level Abel had reached.
"So this is what it means to be trained."
"If you can’t do that, you shouldn’t be in that job. You need to be able to tell whether someone is truly fit for the responsibilities you give them or if they're worthy of the power you bestow. If you can’t figure it out before handing over responsibilities or power, that’s troublesome, right? Realizing it’s too late after entrusting them could lead to casualties."
"Well, that’s true, but…"
"If you can't see through it, the only thing you can do is strive to become capable of doing so. If you can't acquire that skill even after effort, then you should switch to a job that doesn’t require it. There are plenty of such jobs. Continuing in a job that doesn’t suit you and makes someone else unhappy… I believe that’s not happiness for anyone."
