"The number of recovered magic stones is 32,133... Even though they are from goblins, that’s quite a substantial amount. It's definitely too much for just the City of Run to handle."
Hugh let out a sigh.
When Abel defeated the goblin king, Hugh was so ecstatic that he even did a victory pose, and he was genuinely glad they managed to survive the great tsunami.
However, his duties as the Guild Master of the City of Run were far from over.
In fact, the real work was just beginning.
Specifically, he couldn't delegate any of it to anyone else.
Reports to the country and the baron of the borderlands.
Furthermore, submitting documents.
The country has been accumulating funds for countermeasures against the periodically occurring great tsunamis, so he would need to apply for those funds.
Even if he applied, it would take six months for approval to come through, so he had to advance rewards to the adventurers first.
Compensation for the weapon shop that provided arrows.
Condolence payments to the families of those who became victims.
Plus assessments for the guild evaluations of those who participated this time.
Recovery plans for the facilities and equipment damaged by the great tsunami.
Funding for all that.
And, temporary allowances for the guild staff.
And so on...
Just a little thinking resulted in a slew of tasks that he couldn't pass off to anyone else...
(Still...)
Hugh looked at the goblin king's magic stone in his hand.
It was a light green magic stone about the size of a fist.
(Still, it's a sufficiently large and quite valuable magic stone. Considering that, the wyvern magic stones that Abel and the others brought in are indeed extraordinary... or rather, one could say they're typical of wyverns.)
The wyvern magic stone was the size of a fist and a deep green color.
They must have been wyverns that lived long and accumulated deep experiences.
"The 'deep color' signifies that."
(With the king's light-colored magic stone, it suggests that it hasn't been alive for long. It means it wasn’t a monster that had been living in the depths of the dungeon for a long time.)
He still didn’t understand much about the great tsunami.
What he knew was that it occurred periodically, and during those times, the type of monsters that increased was always one kind.
"Ah, I see... The researchers are definitely going to insist on studying this... After a great tsunami, the dungeon will be sealed for a month. What will I do if the scholars come during that time..."
The Guild Master's struggles were far from over.
No one was thinking about the troubled Guild Master... A grand feast was being held in the guild cafeteria.
They had safely weathered a once-in-a-several-year great tsunami.
Moreover, it was the largest one recorded so far.
Because of this, even the guild cafeteria, which had a strict "no alcohol" policy, was making an exception today and serving alcohol.
For tonight only, all food and drink were covered by the guild... or rather, they were planned to be reimbursed later from the countrys’ countermeasures fund.
Regardless, the adventurers who participated in today's great tsunami, those who couldn’t participate due to various reasons, and even those who didn’t know a great tsunami was happening at all were all joining in the grand banquet.
Just then, Ryo returned from the library.
He had initially planned to head straight back to the dormitory, but he could clearly hear the voices of obviously drunk people coming from the guild cafeteria, which was supposed to be "no alcohol."
Peeking in from the entrance, he found that, as expected, a grand banquet was underway.
It seemed they had bought barrels of alcohol and were pouring freely from the barrels into their own mugs.
And from the kitchen, dishes were being brought out one after another.
As he stood there, dumbfounded by the scene, he spotted the three from Room 10 waving him over in the back.
Ryo avoided the center of the grand banquet and made his way to the three in the corner.
"Ryo, welcome back."
Eto, who had previously mentioned she was bad with alcohol, greeted him while half-asleep.
