Since it's Golden Week, I'm posting extra content.
The following Tuesday, just after nine.
Ryo went to the South Library to seek out information on demons, hoping for the best.
After having breakfast with Ryo, the three in Room 10 stood in front of the Guild's bulletin board.
Nils and Eto noted that Tuesday was the day for surface quests.
Amon decided to join in on that.
If they didn't complete surface quests, they'd be significantly delayed in leveling up to E-rank.
Moreover, diving into a dungeon for two consecutive days was not recommended for mental health reasons.
So, they came to check the Guild's quest bulletin board in hopes of taking on surface quests...
"There's a note saying diving into the dungeon is prohibited, right?" Amon read the warning notice stuck at the edge of the quest board.
"Ah... it does say that..."
Yesterday, Nina, the receptionist, mentioned that she would post a notice warning about goblin archers being discovered on the fifth level... but for some reason, it turned into a dungeon prohibition.
"I wonder if some additional information came in afterward," Eto pondered, scratching his head.
At the same time, in the dungeon located in the center of the City of Run.
In front of the surface entrance stood four members of the red sword and twenty members of the white brigade.
"Hello, Phelps-kun. Twenty members, that's half of the brigade, isn't it? Is the other half not diving?"
"Good morning, Abel. This time, all twenty members are C-rank adventurers. We can't bring D-rank adventurers into a place we know is dangerous."
The white brigade is composed of forty members, essentially a party, or a type of 'clan' or 'mutual aid society.'
However, not everyone can join; only D-rank and above adventurers who Phelps personally approve of are allowed to be part of the organization.
Among them, the top elite six, centered around leader Phelps and vice-leader Shena, are referred to by Hugh as the 'core team', composed entirely of B-rank members.
That core team was, of course, present.
"Oh, both red and white are gathered already."
Hugh, who typically works at the Guild headquarters, stepped out from a branch office.
"It's rare to see the Guild Master over at this branch."
Abel looked at Hugh with a face that showed he was witnessing something unusual.
"I need to make a quick decision once you all return. So Iโll be stationed here today, just like I said yesterday. Now, letโs get diving."
With that, Hugh was about to instruct the gatekeeper to open the door.
"Wait, Guild Master."
"Hm? What's wrong, Abel?"
"I have a bad feeling. Lin, use wind magic's [detection] to scout the first layer."
"Got it!"
With that, Lin stood in front of the door and began chanting.
"Bring forth the heartbeat of life and existence to me, [detection]."
The waves of detection expanded from Lin.
When the waves reached the grand hall of the first layer, down the hundred steps beyond the door, Lin's complexion changed.
"There are multiple reactions in the grand hall of the first layer. It's not just a few hundred; it's a staggering number."
"Has the great tsunami already reached that far?" Abel frowned at Lin's report.
"Damn it. Everyone retreat! Fall back to the first barrier. Contact the knight headquarters and the Guild headquarters. The great tsunami has already begun. Monsters will emerge."
Hugh issued his orders.
Including the staff at the branch office, they made their way to the stairs within the barrier.
Those contacting the knight headquarters did not ascend the barrier but headed out to the main street towards the northern knight headquarters.
Those contacting the Guild headquarters went south.
"Master, all personnel have evacuated inside the barrier. The entrance to the barrier has been sealed."
Just as the report was given, the door to the dungeon entrance was blown open.
"They're here..."
Originally, in Earth terms, the 'great tsunami' often referred to large-scale backflows like the Pororoca in the Amazon River.
It creates a magnificent and terrifying sight as many creatures seem to swim upstream simultaneously.
