The Water Magician

Chapter 54: One Day in the City of Run: Part 1 🌆

Published: July 4, 2025

"Ni-Nina-san..."

"Ah, Nils-san and the others, welcome back. You came back early today."

"Y-yes, always, the beautiful buh..."

Et lightly chopped the back of Nils' head to silence his stammering.

"The reason we returned early is that a goblin archer appeared in the fifth layer."

Saying this, Et showed Nina the magic stone he had obtained from the goblin archer.

The only difference between the magic stones of goblins and goblin archers is a slight variation in size.

However, as the receptionist, Nina understood immediately that the magic stone Et presented was not from a regular goblin, but from a goblin archer.

"Indeed, this is a goblin archer's magic stone... There haven't been any reports from the fifth layer in the past few years. I will report this to the Guild Master right away. I will also write it on the notice board. Thank you for the information."

With that, Nina left the reception area to report to the Guild Master.

"Ah, Nina-san..."

Nils was still dazed.

"Ha… Nils, let’s go. We need to sell this magic stone."

Saying that, Et pulled Nils along with Amon to the magic stone purchasing counter.

A knock echoed on the door of the Guild Master’s office.

"Come in."

"Excuse me."

Hugh McGrath, the Guild Master of the City of Run, was battling with paperwork as usual.

Despite his intimidating large build, Hugh appeared to be someone who had little connection with paperwork, but that was a great misunderstanding.

The Guild Master of the largest adventurers' guild in the borderlands of Run must certainly be capable of handling paperwork.

If he did not possess processing abilities above the average, this enormous organization would not function.

"Master, I have a report. Just now, F-rank adventurers Nils, Et, and Amon’s party reported an encounter with a goblin archer in the dungeon's fifth layer at the reception."

Despite Hugh looking over the documents, Nina began her report without any particular sign to do so.

However, this was something that all the staff at the adventurers' guild in the City of Run would do.

Hugh had instructed them to do so.

"A goblin archer in the fifth layer? They usually appear in layers below the tenth."

"Yes, that’s correct."

Stopping his paperwork, Hugh looked up at Nina as she stood while reporting.

"It could be a sign of an anomaly. Are there any B-rank parties in the city right now?"

"The red sword and the white brigade."

"Is the brigade made up of Phelps and his core team?"

"Yes, they returned from their expedition the day before yesterday, so they should still be here."

Nina answered without hesitation.

"Good, have both the red and white come here. I will give them the request in this office in one hour."

"The brigade is here too, right? I’m not good with them..."

"What are you saying, after coming this far? You know them since you were a kid, right?"

"Really, Abel is always so whiny. Shouldn’t you learn a little from Warren?"

"…"

This was the hallway in front of the Guild Master’s office.

Abel, Rhea, Lin, and Warren were heading towards the office as directed by the Guild Master.

"Ha…"

Abel sighed and knocked on the office door.

"Come in."

"Excuse me."

With that, Abel entered the office.

As he expected, the Guild Master Hugh, along with the captain of the white brigade Phelps and vice-captain Shena, were present.

"Hey, Abel."

Phelps greeted him casually.

Standing at 190 centimeters, he was almost the same height as Abel, but slimmer.

At twenty-four years old, with blond hair and blue eyes, he was quite handsome.

His popularity was tremendous.

While Abel was popular with both men and women, Phelps had an extraordinarily high female fanbase.

Of course, he wasn’t disliked by men... it was just jealousy from other guys.

Due to his looks and popularity with the opposite sex, he was a target of envy among the same sex, but as an adventurer, he was respected without exception.

He had achieved enough to earn that respect.

"Hello, Phelps."

Abel greeted him with a serious expression.

"You always have that greeting, Abel."

Phelps said with a smile.
