The next day was Sunday.
As expected, it would be best to refrain from diving into the dungeon for two consecutive days, so Amon immediately began his training.
Early in the morning, he swung his sword before breakfast, and after breakfast, he ran in the outdoor training area of the adventurers' guild for the entire morning.
Of course, since he still didn't have that much stamina, he ran slowly.
However, he never stopped; he sometimes walked, but he kept moving.
It was something he had done long ago when Ryo was in the Forest of Rondo.
His enthusiastic appearance as the youngest member positively influenced his seniors.
Seeing Amon running made Nils and Eto start running as well.
However, the stamina-lacking priest Eto dropped out quickly...
By the way, Ryo was not among them.
If they saw Ryo's boundless stamina, it might actually decrease their motivation!
It wasn't that he was being considerate of his comrades; he simply had other things he wanted to do.
That was to research alchemy.
In the City of Run, there are two large libraries, one in the north and one in the south.
The Southern Library, which is quite close to the adventurers' guild, has many beginner-level books for the general public.
Since Ryo had heard this, he decided to first visit the South Library.
In front of the library was a large plaza, and there was also a fairly large bookstore adjacent to it.
(This business model, where borrowing is prohibited at the library, is something you wouldn't think of on Earth. Searching for books in the library and buying them at the neighboring bookstore...)
The entrance fee for the library was two thousand florins.
If nothing problematic occurred, half of that, one thousand florins, would be refunded upon exit.
The library was enormous.
It was probably the size of a dome stadium that he had been taken to back when he was on Earth.
"This feels... impossible to search for alone."
He returned to the counter once and asked where he could find beginner books on alchemy.
"Please follow me this way."
With that, a woman who seemed to be a librarian, working near the counter, began to guide him.
Apparently, it was quite far from the counter.
After walking for more than five minutes, he finally arrived.
"If you are a complete beginner, I recommend reading this book and this one first. Also, for a beginner's recipe... I think this would be good."
Saying so, the female librarian found three books for Ryo.
'The Very Basics of Alchemy'
'First Steps in Alchemy'
'Alchemy: The First Recipe Collection'
All the authors were listed as Neil Anderson.
Ryo thanked her and moved to an empty seat with those three books.
Though it was an empty seat, there were quite few users in the library.
"One thousand florins" is not a small amount for the common people.
- The essence of all alchemy is that it must use either a magic circle or a magic formula.
- There are no restrictions on the materials for drawing the magic circle.
- The magic circle only activates when magical power is channeled through it.
- The compatibility between magic stones and magic circles is very good, allowing the magic circle to operate without needing a magic supply from a person.
And so on.
By the way, concerning the "magic formula," it seems it's used at an advanced level or above, so it was not necessary at this stage.
'The Very Basics of Alchemy' and 'First Steps in Alchemy' explained the reasoning behind why alchemy is possible, what it excels at, and what it struggles with, from a logical standpoint since they were aimed at beginners.
Since 'Alchemy: The First Recipe Collection' was a recipe book, it also included simple magic circles that could be used in alchemy.
At the back of the recipe collection, there were several potion recipes and their corresponding magic circles.
However, there was also a note.
"Since there is a high possibility of mana depletion, do not attempt this unless you are a skilled mage or higher."
(Ah, so that's why few people make potions themselves...)
Ryo didn't know how much magical power a skilled mage possessed, but if considerable magical power was required to create a single potion, then it's only natural for adventurers to think, "It's faster to buy it."
