Jack of All Trades, Party of None

Chapter 41: The Members of the First Squad 👥

Published: January 22, 2026

After leaving the conference room, we are currently moving to the exploration division area.

“It seems like all the members were bored. So, from now on, we’ll all meet face to face.”

Ms. Selma informed me as we headed to the meeting place.

As she said this morning, it looks like we’re going to have a meet-and-greet with the party members.

Gathering everyone together isn’t a problem, but how does Ms. Selma know such real-time information?

She’s been with us the whole time, right?

When I asked her this question directly, she gave a sly smile and said, “I’ll tell you later.”

There seems to be some kind of trick involved.

“Eh, what is this...?”

I couldn’t help but blurt out my honest reaction.

The place Ms. Selma guided me to was filled with a massive number of books.

There must be around a few thousand volumes here.

Glancing at the spines, I saw books about demonic beasts and various layers of the dungeon.

“Even Orun was surprised by this, huh.”

“Um, are all these books about the Great Labyrinth?”

“Yes. Most are about the dungeons in the country, but there are also books about the Great Labyrinth. Not just information published by the guild, but also records collected independently by the clan.”

This is the power of a major clan.

The hero party couldn’t possibly gather this much information.

Only a clan with many explorers under its wing could manage this.

I was overwhelmed by the volume of information the clan possessed.

If these are just about the dungeon, then there must also be a considerable amount of information on other topics—like magical tools, for example.

Is this a paradise?

I want to spend some time here, diving into the unique information the silver rabbits of the night sky have gathered so far.

“Orun can have eyes that sparkle like this, huh...”

“Well, there’s so much information right in front of me! Of course my eyes would light up like this!”

“I-I see... All members of the group can read these books. However, they can’t be taken outside the building.”

Ms. Selma seemed a bit taken aback.

Surely, I don’t usually get this high-energy.

But there’s so much information I don’t know about!

Is there anyone who wouldn’t get excited? No, there isn’t!

“Can I read through them all!?”

“I hate to cut you off when you’re so happy, but please prioritize the meet-and-greet...”

Right. The reason we came here was to meet everyone.

Well, the books won’t run away; I’ll just have to hold back for now.

There were more than ten doors at the back of the library.

Ms. Selma opened the sturdiest door among them and invited me in.

“This is the private room assigned to our first squad. We usually hold meetings here. —Looks like everyone’s already here.”

Apparently, everyone was already inside.

I followed Ms. Selma into the room.

It wasn’t much different from the meeting room in the mansion the hero party rents.

There was a large table in the center with five chairs, a big blackboard on the wall, and supplies for exploration stored in the back.

Besides Mr. Wilkes, who I met this morning, there were two girls.

Both had participated in the joint subjugation last month.

“Sorry for gathering you all even though you’re free. As I said before, let’s start by introducing ourselves.”

“Okay, got it. Um, is ‘long time no see’ okay? I’m Rain Hugwell, twenty-four years old! A mage. Nice to meet you all.”

Ms. Rain emphasized her age as she introduced herself.

To be honest, she looks no more than a young teenager.

I remembered being shocked when I learned she was actually twenty-four, despite looking so young during the joint subjugation.

Her black hair is tied into twin tails around the middle point between her shoulders and ears, resembling pigtails.

Her eyes are a clear sky blue.

She wears a loose robe primarily in black and blue.

It seems a bit ill-fitting...

From what I saw last month, she focused more on quality than quantity, repeatedly casting top-tier magic on a smaller scale.

“Okay, next is me! I’m Lucrecia Otis. I’m a supporter and healer. Call me Lucre! We’re close in age, so let’s get along!”
