After all the ups and downs, the fortress city Murcia was finally completed, and we were at last able to return.
“That was quite a big job, but with this, all of His Majesty’s requests are fulfilled. Everyone, truly, thank you for your hard work!”
“Yes, sir!”
We gathered in front of the Scuderia’s city gate and exchanged greetings. The knights lined up answered with deep voices.
In the front row stood Murcia, the magistrate, alongside Dee, the interim knight commander, and Arb. Behind them were two hundred knights from Seato Village and one hundred troops loyal to Murcia. Additionally, about ten adventurers who remained in the fortress city of Murcia lined up.
On our side were the super genius boy Van-kun, his super beautiful fiancée Arte, the super beautiful? maid Til, and the swordsman Kamushin, who was expected to become the strongest. Then there were Row and the merchant Rango, followed by Bola and the mechanical bow unit, the strongest in their field. Furthermore, about ten adventurers served as guides and guards, standing in formation.
“There will be a supply delivery soon from the Bell Rango Trading Company, so please feel free to consume spices and alcohol without worry.”
I said this with a smile, and Murcia nodded with a wry smile.
“Thank you. Food is important, so just hearing that makes me feel better. However, I’m sorry, but I’d like to ask for reinforcements for the knights as soon as possible. It’s embarrassing, but I can’t help but worry when the Yelinetta Kingdom army might attack.”
Murcia answered with a troubled expression. Nodding in agreement, I considered our future plans and spoke.
“Yes. Since this fortress city Murcia will be the front line, we plan to leave only the minimum number of people in Seato Village and send reinforcements. The Espada Knight Order is also here, so it should be fine. If the population growth plan goes well, we intend to send even more reinforcements.”
Upon hearing this, Murcia relaxed her expression in relief.
“That’s a help. I am also a four element magician, but I’m not skilled enough to change the course of battle alone.”
Murcia muttered this as if it were nothing. Those words sparked various ideas in my head about how Murcia’s magic could be used.
I thought of air guns, but using wind magic to remotely trigger traps might be the most effective. If we built a sturdy-looking stone bridge that could be instantly collapsed with Murcia’s wind magic in an emergency, such traps would have tremendous strategic impact.
If we prepared several such locations, the chances of defending against a war with a great power would increase.
“...No, I think Murcia Brother’s magic has an even better application. I’ll think about it a little more.”
“Huh? R-Really?”
“Yes. Since you have the rare ability to use magic, we must find a way to maximize its effectiveness.”
With that exchange, we ended the discussion.
I expressed words of appreciation to those staying behind and emphasized the importance of defense. For those returning to Seato Village, I reminded them to remain vigilant as we would be crossing the Wolfsburg Mountains.
After all, it was a dangerous path where large demonic beasts appeared as easily as rabbits or raccoons used to. No matter how much the roads were improved, complacency was not an option.
With that tension, I was pleasantly surprised.
Just like last time, with skilled adventurers, ballista, and the mechanical bow unit, the Wolfsburg Mountains crossing tour was easy. We could spot and defeat demonic beasts before they appeared.
Moreover, with the march accompanied by wagons progressing smoothly, the number of dangerous encounters decreased.
Although we still needed to spend nights in the mountains, we built three large lodging facilities in open areas along the way. They were simple forts but offered safe places to sleep and rest.
Thanks to that, we were able to return home more comfortably and swiftly than expected.
However, the real hell began after returning to Seato Village. Although we rested well that night, the next day Espada summoned me for an emergency meeting.
