In the room where Wen Yu was, the crude wooden door creaked open, waking him up.
Wen Yu squinted and glanced over; it was Sun Ruixing.
"Back already?"
Stretching lazily, Wen Yu propped himself up and looked at the disheveled figure in front of him.
Sun Ruixing had clearly been through a tough battle; his protective suit was in tatters, and a large chunk of flesh was missing from his face, clawed away by a zombie.
Sun Ruixing nodded to Wen Yu, saying, "Just got back not long ago. I went to Li Dalong, but there was no one there. I randomly asked someone and found out your location."
What happened that afternoon was well-known to all. Besides the news that Er Gang, this beast, was dead, the most eye-catching event was the arrival of a super strong person in the camp—Wen Yu.
"I guess I'm somewhat of a star around here!"
With a self-deprecating sigh, Wen Yu lay back down on the bed.
Sun Ruixing looked at Wen Yu hesitantly and asked, "So, where's Bai Xiao'an?"
Wen Yu had already guessed; it had to be about this matter. He spoke directly, "She was taken by Sun Aotian. Oh, by the way, Sun Aotian is a level two professional in this camp. Bai Xiao'an's sister hooked up with a powerful individual, and as for Bai Xiao'an's injuries, you don’t need to worry about them."
"Was it voluntary on Bai Feifei's part?"
"Of course!"
"That's good, that's good."
Seeing Sun Ruixing nodding in satisfaction made Wen Yu surprised.
"You didn't feel it was worth it that you didn't get Bai Feifei? Look at you, you almost didn't make it back, right? You wouldn't have gone to save her just out of sympathy, would you?"
Sun Ruixing looked at Wen Yu oddly and asked, "How could I do it for Bai Feifei? I'm old enough to be her father!"
Wen Yu rolled his eyes, "So is Li Quan'an. The two of them in Birch Forest Town, weren't they just as lovey-dovey?"
"People are different; I didn’t think that much!"
Sun Ruixing sighed and sat down beside Wen Yu's bed.
"When I saw Bai Feifei, I thought of my daughter. They're about the same age. My daughter is alone in Beijing City. I used to think there was no problem, but now that I see the situation in Chaihe Town, I don’t dare to think about it anymore."
Hearing Sun Ruixing's words, Wen Yu silently took out two cigarettes, handed one to Sun Ruixing, and they began to smoke together.
"Girls really suffer in this damn world!"
Wen Yu exclaimed out of nowhere, feeling touched by Sun Ruixing's words.
Fatherly love is like a mountain, and Wen Yu could feel the affection for his daughter in Sun Ruixing's words.
This kind of feeling was something Wen Yu hadn’t experienced in over a decade...
"So for these people, I’ll help when I can. I'm really afraid; if Beijing City is also like this, if no one reaches out to help, what kind of treatment will my daughter receive?"
After listening to Sun Ruixing, Wen Yu unusually refrained from mocking him.
Wen Yu pursued absolute strength; people like him were the pillars of humanity, the guarantee of survival in disasters, and the means for humanity to fight back in the future.
However, the continuation of humanity never relied on such individuals.
It depended on countless ordinary people, many of whom Wen Yu considered weak, ants, or cannon fodder.
These people survived thanks to the contributions of countless kin, and the efforts of many nurturers like Sun Ruixing.
Wen Yu wouldn’t become one of those people, but that doesn’t stop him from admiring them.
Good people should not be despised, no matter the occasion, time, or place.
"Did you go into the town today?"
Seeing the dazed look in Sun Ruixing's eyes, Wen Yu knew he was thinking about his daughter again and directly interrupted his thoughts.
"I took a distant look; the situation is about as bad as what Li Dalong said."
"Let’s check it out tomorrow. By the way, you don’t have a place to stay, right? Just spend the night on the floor here."
Sun Ruixing looked at Wen Yu in surprise, not understanding when Wen Yu had become so approachable.
