“Ah…” Wen Yu let out a big yawn and stretched his body, making a series of creaking sounds all over. That night, Wen Yu slept very comfortably. He casually ate some food from the Spatial Ring and handed a piece of level 1 magic crystal to the little soul beast, watching it bounce around and completely regain its previous liveliness before swallowing the soul crystal in one go.

Although the level 1 magic crystal wouldn’t enhance the physical qualities of the soul beast, it was definitely a luxury for its daily sustenance.

Sensing a wave of energy coming from the second soul realm, Wen Yu immersed his consciousness into it.

He saw that the one-eyed beast had fully recovered from its injuries and was running around in the soul realm. Strangely, the entire soul realm seemed to have no boundaries; no matter how wildly the enormous body of the one-eyed beast twisted and turned, there was no sense of restraint.

Feeling Wen Yu’s consciousness sweep over, the one-eyed beast clearly conveyed its thoughts: “I want to go out.”

Wild beasts need to be free.

“Wait a moment, we’ll leave this afternoon,” Wen Yu comforted, seeing that the one-eyed beast didn’t appear dissatisfied. He directly walked toward the yard.

In the yard, most of the survivors were already up, bustling about their own affairs.

Sun Ruixing was chatting with Old Man Sun here and there. Seeing Wen Yu walk out of the house, Sun Ruixing approached him as if he had seen a savior.

“Bro, have you rested well?”

Watching Sun Ruixing come over with a smile, Wen Yu nodded at him.

“We are heading out soon; could you help us look after our home, Brother Wen Yu?” Sun Ruixing looked at Wen Yu and made his request.

“No problem, but Brother Sun, are you really taking these completely unarmed people outside?” Wen Yu asked seriously, noticing the elderly packing their luggage as if they were moving. What troubled him most was a 70-year-old lady who was stuffing pots and pans into Sun Ruixing’s truck. Were they so sure that the government had completely stabilized the crisis?

Wen Yu earnestly said to Sun Ruixing: “You should understand what’s out there. Taking them with you will not only compromise their safety but also significantly reduce your own.”

“It shouldn’t be a problem. We will take the roads we cleared before; the danger on this road isn’t high,” Sun Ruixing hesitated and replied. “Besides, for some unknown reason, the number of mutated beasts has decreased a lot these days.”

“What you decide is your business; I’m just reminding you. I will stay here and wait for you until it gets dark. Before I leave, nothing will happen to the camp. This is my promise to you, and it can also be considered as repaying your hospitality for these past few meals.”

Wen Yu promised Sun Ruixing earnestly.

“Now I can rest easy.” Sun Ruixing patted Wen Yu on the shoulder and said cheerfully.

Seeing Sun Ruixing organizing people and arranging the patrol teams for the camp, Wen Yu sat directly on the steps in front of the big house, watching the busy crowd in the camp. A sense of loneliness welled up within him; these busy people had never experienced the cruelty of the apocalypse. Everything they did was just a waste of time.

And time is life, the guarantee of survival.

Sun Ruixing and a large group of elderly people boarded the vehicle. In addition to Sun Ruixing’s truck, there was also a half-abandoned bus. A group of middle-aged women inside the bus was chattering away as if they were going on a spring outing.

Several elderly people sat in the back of a private car, smiling as they watched the convoy prepare to set off.

They imagined they were heading toward a beautiful life in peacetime, but to Wen Yu, these few vehicles were clearly heading to hell.

“Goodbye, everyone! We are going to Mudanjiang City to take a look. If things are good there, we’ll come back to pick you up. And, Tiger, Tiger, where did you run off to?”

Sun Ruixing, on the truck, shouted loudly when he didn’t see Lin Hu.
