Doomsday Summoning Frenzy

Chapter 24: Four-Person Squad 🛡️

Published: January 31, 2025

Just as Wen Yu was unaware of the danger and was picking up some bargains, at the side entrance of Riverside Park.

"Brother Tao, most of the zombies have been lured away by that big lion. Should we go in?" A sly-looking young man whispered to a muscular man beside him.

"Tsk tsk, that lion was really terrifying just now. When the apocalypse hits, even the lions have become extraordinary. By the way, what did you just say?" The muscular man was still stunned by the distant Simba and reacted a beat late.

Behind the two were two very similar twins, around 23 to 24 years old. One was holding a crossbow, and the other had a homemade shotgun. Hearing their boss's nonsensical talk, one of them couldn't help but rub his forehead. "Brother Tao, can we ask if you are still following the original plan?"

"Oh, oh, ah, it's not easy, not easy. What if there are more of those big guys inside the park? This is really not easy."

The sly young man and the twins sighed heavily. Although they knew their boss was loyal and deeply sentimental, his personality was truly... a headache.

The twin holding the crossbow stopped paying attention to his boss's mutterings and quickly stepped forward, firing three bolts at an astonishing speed, hitting the foreheads of three zombies with precision. The shooter's F-level skill: Precision, allowed the bolts to hit the mark at this distance.

The other two quickly followed, gripping the muscular man's arms. The sly young man complained as he walked, "I knew I shouldn't have asked you. I should have let Wan Ping be the boss from the start."

Hearing this, the muscular man shrugged off their arms and rushed to the front of the group, swinging his steel knife at great speed.

Even the remaining first-level zombies ahead could not withstand the sharpness and immense power of the steel knife.

The obstacles in front of the four were quickly torn apart.

As the leading muscular man killed zombies, he still had the energy to turn back and joke, "What are you little brats thinking? Do you think I don’t know? It's just that your big boss is strong and full of energy, so I let him take the lead as a meat shield, and you still dare to mention choosing a team leader?”

The remaining three seemed not to hear their captain's banter. Wan Ping, with the crossbow, kept shooting at the approaching zombies, while Wan An, with the shotgun, nimbly collected the bolts sticking into the zombies nearby. The sly young man, Lin Li, hunched his neck and keenly observed his surroundings, closely following their team leader—Guan Tao.

This apparently discordant team was clearing out zombies at an astonishing speed, swiftly opening a path into the park.

Inside the park was extremely quiet. As they witnessed the desolate scene, Guan Tao and the three others, after eliminating the zombies that had followed them, couldn't help but huddle together.

"Boss, could there be ghosts here?"

Lin Li shrank his neck and tugged at Guan Tao's shirt.

"Ghosts? What ghosts can be scarier than that big lion? We came in here to seize the food from the lion's mouth. We aren’t afraid of death, so why be afraid of ghosts?" Guan Tao said fiercely, tightening his collar, clearly not as fearless as his words suggested.

"Brother Tao, you haven’t said what we came to the park for," Wan Ping asked while disgustedly kicking a zombie's arm away.

As the four adapted to the eerie environment, they slowly walked deeper into the park.

"We came this time for treasure!!" Guan Tao said, his eyes narrowing with excitement as he whispered to his teammates.

The other three immediately felt a chill run down their spines.

One could only say that Guan Tao's expression was too disgusting. Just imagine a 190 cm tall, 200 jin muscular man speaking in a tone like, “I’m going to tell you a little secret, but don’t tell anyone else," and one could easily guess how the three felt.

The three suppressed the impulse to beat up Guan Tao.

Wan Ping pulled at the corner of his mouth, "What treasure?"

"Hahaha, brothers, you all don’t know this." Guan Tao laughed triumphantly, pulling out a crumpled pack of Soft Zhonghua from his pocket and giving each of his teammates one. Lin Li, quick-eyed, immediately took out a lighter and lit them up one by one.
