Doomsday Summoning Frenzy

Chapter 17: Facing the Sea of Zombies 🌊

Published: January 30, 2025

Not far from the main entrance of the police station, inside an office building, a dozen men and women watched in shock as the zombie tide clashed with mutated rats below.

“Director, Old Wang, Old Wang didn’t make it out.” A young man in police uniform whispered to the tall middle-aged man standing in the center.

“En.”

A faint response, completely concealing the mood of the police chief, but one could clearly feel from his tightly clenched hands and the hatred in his gaze towards the mutated rats that he was on the verge of being consumed by rage and hatred, just like a volcano about to erupt.

“Find someone, go again, these zombies aren’t enough.” The chief said calmly.

“Director Wang, that’s enough. Many people have already died to attract the zombies, and looking at the situation below, these zombies clearly can’t handle the mutated rats; instead, they are continuously evolving.” A well-dressed man stood up and said directly to Director Wang.

“Then what do you suggest we do?” The chief muttered as if in a dream, almost to himself.

“We need to leave now. There are too many zombies here, and it’s no longer safe to stay.” The well-dressed man spoke up directly.

Seeing that Director Wang’s mental state was obviously impaired, the well-dressed man paused briefly before continuing, “Director Wang, please accept my condolences. I know…”

“You know nothing, you know nothing… All you know is how to make money through unscrupulous means.”

Director Wang was ignited by the words of the man before him, angrily grabbing the man by the collar and shouting.

Perhaps feeling that this wasn’t enough to vent his anger, Director Wang directly punched the well-dressed man in the nose, using the strength of a practitioner to send him crashing to the ground. Fortunately, the well-dressed man had already successfully transitioned, suffering no major injuries apart from a nosebleed and a visibly collapsed nose bridge.

Others looked on in silence as the two colossal figures in the group quarreled.

The well-dressed man pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped his nosebleed, perhaps rubbing his hand against the wound and causing him to frown.

Gazing at the clearly crumbling state of Director Wang, the well-dressed man sighed softly.

“Director Wang, I know your daughter’s death has hit you hard. We trust you greatly, so we supported your plan to attract zombies and take back the police station. But who doesn’t know that this plan was made merely to satisfy your desire for revenge?”

Looking at Director Wang slumped in the corner, the well-dressed man’s eyes flashed with disappointment and contempt.

“Moreover, you can see the current situation; this plan has only made the mutated rats stronger and has led to continuous losses of manpower without any other effect.”

“In this situation, you have clearly lost your rationality to hatred, so Director Wang, you are not suitable to issue any orders for now.”

The cornered Director Wang did not react at all to these words, merely continuing to grab his own hair while emitting incomprehensible whimpers.

The well-dressed man ignored Director Wang in the corner and walked directly to the window.

“How many people do we still have outside attracting zombies?” The well-dressed man asked.

In the crowd, a brightly dressed woman who looked like a secretary answered, “Boss, all the people who could return from outside attracting zombies have come back. The remaining ones that haven’t returned, I’m afraid…”

“Ah, we lost seven practitioners.” He shot an angry glance at Director Wang huddled in the corner.

The well-dressed man addressed the remaining people, “We now have so few people left, and a large part of them are still ordinary people who haven’t transitioned. The urgent task is to find a safe place to rest. The place we are in right now is too risky.”

Before the people around could respond, the well-dressed man turned to Director Wang and said, “Director Wang, I know the death of your beloved has hit you hard, but in the current situation, we need your strength. If you feel indebted to the brothers who died because of your foolish plan, then pull yourself together and lead us out.”
