Doomsday Summoning Frenzy

Chapter 16: Police Station Brawl 🥊

Published: January 30, 2025

A gust of wind swept by, lifting a pile of scattered garbage and torn pieces of clothing.

Ever since Wen Yu learned about the news from the police station, he had no time to care about the deepening night and quickly headed towards the station.

In a non-combat state, his three times the physical fitness of a normal person gave Wen Yu unparalleled speed. As he raced through the city, he felt a long-lost sense of freedom.

"Sure enough, in this world, only the strong have the right to talk about freedom and life."

Reflecting on the events since the apocalypse began, whether it was the invitation from the Guardian Squad or the rush of controlling life and death, Wen Yu couldn't help but sink deeper.

"Why get stronger? It’s for this feeling—freedom, the ability to control one's own life, and even the lives of others. So, get stronger, young man. There's still a long way to go."

Wen Yu silently encouraged himself. Since heaven had given him a chance for a do-over and a perfect start, what reason did he have not to fight for the future he wanted?

As he got closer to the police station, the bloodstains on the ground became more numerous. The splattered blood undoubtedly told everyone that a terrifying battle had taken place here.

However, what puzzled Wen Yu the most was that as he approached the police station, the bodies on the ground became fewer, and the zombies slowly disappeared.

It should be known that these mindless creatures would not gather together without a leader in a short time; they would only wander within a certain range.

Unless...

Wen Yu thought of a possibility.

He stopped in his tracks toward the police station and instead took a detour, climbing up a nearby office building close to the station.

Standing by the 10th-floor window, Wen Yu looked down.

Before him was an action spectacle.

Countless zombies filled the entire street, pushing toward the police station's entrance, where trampling incidents occasionally occurred among the horde. Zombies, with their rigid limbs, would be tripped by their companions and subsequently stomped into mush by others.

What made Wen Yu find it ridiculous was the battle occurring at the police station's entrance.

Numerous zombies were nearly bursting through the police station's door, but their opponents—a large group of giant rats—were instead leaping around amidst the zombie horde.

The gray fur made it impossible for the unevolved zombies to grab hold, while the agile rats toyed with them, causing the zombies to spin in confusion. Instead of catching the rats, they ended up knocking down their own kind, and the fallen zombies could no longer rise.

These rats, the size of house cats, had developed large mutated front teeth that eagerly tore into the rotten flesh of the zombies.

Though the taste was poor, the viruses in the zombie's flesh served as essential nutrients for the mutated beasts' evolution.

It was evident that the severed limbs and arms on the ground were being directly devoured by a large group of recently evolved rats. The uneaten remains were being dragged into the police station, and judging by the bloodstains at the entrance, there were at least eight hundred zombies lying there. Yet now, apart from the blood, there were hardly any bodies left.

Wen Yu stood high up, carefully observing his surroundings.

It was clear that such a large-scale horde was definitely not naturally occurring. No matter how much noise there was from the police station, it couldn't attract such a vast number of zombies.

Moreover, looking at the movement patterns of the zombies around and the traces in the distance, it was obvious they were intentionally attracted to the police station's entrance by humans.

"However, this is really stupid."

Wen Yu sighed at the current situation.

Ignorance had brought disaster.

Whoever came up with this idea had made a foolish move.

Wen Yu watched as a previously unevolved rat, after devouring a zombie's arm, quickly expanded in size, growing over three times its original size and successfully evolving into a mutated creature.
