This statement was of little use to Wen Yu. Whether it was dangerous or not, fighting was the solution. However, after a brief contemplation, Wen Yu found the underlying meaning in Bai's words.
"Are you saying that there's a good chance we'll fall directly into the demon lord's lair?"
"Perhaps..."
Bai admitted that such a situation could indeed occur.
"However, theoretically, this shouldn’t happen, because among the millions of transit passages, only one leads to the demon lord's lair, unless one is the chosen one..."
At this point, Bai merely cast a strange glance at Wen Yu, and did not elaborate further. Wen Yu nodded in understanding.
"The main point I just mentioned is not this..."
"The most important thing to note is that once we are transported through the transit passage, we will not be able to return the same way. It is a one-way trip, and it’s likely to be a one-time event. Therefore, after infiltrating, we will be scattered to different locations. This will require everyone to adapt on the fly, and at the same time, I need everyone to help me keep an eye on the location of the origin pool. By the way, the jade pendant I just gave you is still with you, right?"
Wen Yu nodded to indicate he hadn’t thrown it away.
"That thing can be used to locate my direction and allows for brief communication. Once you discover something, notify me in a timely manner, and we will regroup at the origin pool."
"What does the origin place look like?"
Wen Yu had never seen this so-called origin place, so it was reasonable for him to ask. In response to his question, Bai simply smiled.
"You will know when you find it… In general, that’s about it."
With that, Bai explained everything and shared information, leaving only the waiting part.
...
The waiting process was long but not dull.
Inside the Devourer, Wen Yu could extend his senses, as the membrane of the Devourer did not hinder his perception ability. Coupled with Wen Yu's vast sensing range, it was just like what he had just detected: aside from the harsh air environment, everything else resembled a sightseeing submarine.
Within the belly of the Devourer, Wen Yu could even see the scenery outside—the sea of lava.
Of course, there wasn’t much to see, but the ecological environment beneath the sea of lava opened Wen Yu's eyes!
The various monsters hunted a few days ago were vividly recalled; they wandered in the sea of fire but were far from the Devourer. Occasionally, a creature would approach the Devourer, only to panic and flee at the moment of closeness— the hierarchy of the food chain was evident. The Devourer was entirely a dominant existence in this sea of fire, even though it was merely a sweeping robot of the Heart of the Demon Realm...
Not long after, Wen Yu finally witnessed the Devourer feeding.
It was a disabled lava giant. It floated and sank in the sea of fire, with a life force extremely weak. As the Devourer approached, the lava giant showed signs of panic. In Wen Yu's perception, the heavily injured lava giant flailed like a helpless fly before the Devourer’s enormous mouth, appearing utterly powerless.
The massive mouth opened, and in that instant, even those inside the Devourer felt a tremendous suction force emanating from the lake behind them. Watching Bai and the others stagger, Wen Yu quickly pulled them to help steady their positions, and then returned his focus to the outside.
The immense suction pulled the lava giant in, dragging it harshly into the belly of the Devourer, as if a meteor was crashing down. Wen Yu watched the lava giant transform into a flaming ball, directly crashing into the lake inside the Devourer.
In the blink of an eye, splashes erupted, followed by the lava giant’s anguished howls ringing in their ears. Not even a second passed before the nearly thousand-meter tall lava giant was completely dissolved and digested, vanishing without a trace.
The power of the Devourer’s gastric fluid was evident...
Wen Yu twitched at the corner of his eye, watching the scene that had just unfolded. After a moment, he turned to Bai and asked, "Did you just crawl out of there?"
