Chapter: Two-in-One
Recently, the forces in Ying City have discovered some abnormalities; the people from Cloud Summit seem particularly busy.
Cloud Summit warriors are constantly leaving the city, and more are returning. In fact, Cloud Summit has purchased several modified vehicles from many factions.
Occasionally, at night, there are sounds of engines roaring, which have not been heard in a long time, sweeping through the streets. By the time everyone hesitates and steps out to observe, these sounds have already faded into the depths of the wilderness.
No one knows what Cloud Summit is planning, but everyone speculates that it must be a major operation.
Considering the war bounty previously announced by Cloud Summit, many believe that Cloud Summit is going to take action against a superpower or a large horde of zombies or beasts.
Of course, bounty missions are not easy to undertake; after all, that means many will die. However, danger and reward always go hand in hand. If one ignores this bounty, will they regret it later?
The apocalypse has lasted nearly two years, and many people's mindsets have changed. They no longer avoid danger like they would in peaceful times; rather, they choose to face challenges head-on. After all, humanity is in a constant state of crisis, and each battle could be the last moment of their lives.
To live longer and better, one must strive to become stronger. And the only option to become strong is to risk one's life in battle.
The instinct to seek benefits and avoid harm still exists; it has just been forced to take on a different form by reality.
The reputation of Cloud Summit is crucial. The stronger they become, the stronger the warriors within them, and those who follow Cloud Summit gain more benefits. This has become a consensus among many surrounding factions.
With the release of this bounty, many people were greatly tempted. Previously, only a few had signed up, partly because this is a matter of life and death, and being cautious is not inappropriate. Additionally, there was still time until the deadline, so many were not in a hurry.
However, the recent actions of Cloud Summit have made it impossible for many to sit still. Numerous factions have accepted the bounty and the war invitation from Cloud Summit.
For Ye Zhongming, who is currently not at Cloud Summit, this was an unexpected surprise.
Right now, Ye Zhongming is leading a group of people in a valley, engaged in extensive construction.
The wilderness in the apocalypse is not friendly. Over the past few days, Ye Zhongming has fought countless battles against various mutated life forms, large and small. The most intense battle occurred on the very first day they arrived here, against a pack of mutated wolves, which numbered over fifteen hundred fierce beasts and created a lot of trouble for Cloud Summit.
After that, there were mutated plants, high-level wild zombies that had survived in the mountains, and unpredictable mutated insects...
Even now, as they are modifying the valley, they continue to face disturbances from various life forms.
However, this small valley, which had long been deserted, has transformed significantly in a short time.
“Boss, the iron lock prisoner is approaching. At the current speed, it should reach the valley in about an hour and a half, barring any accidents,” Little Tiger's voice came through the Merit Medal, causing Ye Zhongming and the others wearing the same medal to slightly slow their work, before they picked up the pace again.
They knew that time was running short.
An hour later, the massive shadow of the iron lock prisoner could already be seen from the peaks on both sides of the valley.
At this point, Little Tiger had returned and was showing Ye Zhongming some photos he had taken.
“This guy, we robbed it of Bloodwood, but it seems to have found another piece of wood somewhere, which is just as big as Bloodwood,” Little Tiger sighed, feeling that human reasoning couldn't comprehend the mindset of the iron lock prisoner, which seemed singularly focused on moving forward and consuming whatever it encountered.
