Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 77: Black Soul Devouring 💀

Published: February 5, 2025

Captain Ye's eyes were filled with crimson at this moment.

Earlier, the purple cloud battle ants had caused severe losses to the team. However, when the large number of zombies and the two bloody steel bells arrived, all he could do was lead his people in passive defense.

Yes, they couldn't even escape.

All around them, everywhere they looked, there were zombies, mutated creatures, and monsters. In just a short time, they had already lost more than half their personnel, and even among those remaining, many were injured.

Without immunity agents, these injuries essentially equated to death.

Including Captain Ye, no one knew where to go. Every direction seemed to lead to hell.

This was a maddening sense of despair.

Some members began to break down. Captain Ye personally witnessed several promising soldiers crying out in anguish as they pulled triggers against their own heads, their brain matter and blood splattering across the once-honored olive green uniforms.

Others, suddenly breaking from the group, mindlessly charged into the horde of corpses, believing they were escaping, when in reality, they were just delivering themselves to death.

The zombies, which Captain Ye had thought posed no threat before, now revealed their true ferocity. Once their numbers reached a certain level, not only humans but even those mutated creatures were powerless to resist. They were devoured and stuffed into the bellies of these mindless corpses.

Out of the four teams deployed in different directions, two had lost contact. Director Liu had already informed Captain Ye that they needed to retreat first, as they could no longer withstand that enormous mutated zombie. Only the second battalion was still trying to converge towards their position, but would they be able to break through the encirclement and reach here?

Captain Ye himself didn’t believe it.

"Relay my orders," Captain Ye said, his face gloomy, tightly clenching his fists. He removed a wireless communication headset and said, "Break through to the left front."

The nearby staff member was taken aback: "Commander, that's..."

"I know! But that's our only way out."

Under such orders, the entire team began moving toward the iron lock prisoner. At this moment, everyone was fighting for survival; obeying orders had become an instinctual action. Captain Ye saw something unfamiliar in the eyes of many, and he knew that even if they managed to rush out alive this time, many would no longer listen to his commands.

But it was fine. He had expected this; every sacrifice was worth it. As long as Wang Ding and the others succeeded, he would support them now, even if it meant sacrificing more!

Captain Ye lowered his head, his eyes filled with gloom.

………………………………………………………………………………

Ye Zhongming encountered trouble at an intersection. This was already the main battlefield, with monsters, zombies, and mutated life forms everywhere. He had to kill these monsters while advancing.

Wang Ding, who closely followed behind him, faced the same trouble. Without immunity agents, he had to be more cautious than Ye Zhongming when dealing with the zombies. However, his two-star evolver strength meant that nothing truly dangerous could harm him.

But that young man ahead was slippery, which only fueled Wang Ding's anger.

Boom!

The Bloodwood in the iron lock prisoner’s hands suddenly extended out from a building. At the top was the corpse of a secondary mutated creature, the specific species no longer discernible. The body was pulverized, leaving only a pool of minced flesh and bone fragments, with a white magic crystal indicating the mutated level of its former owner.

Seeing the massive figure of the iron lock prisoner emerge from behind the high-rise, Ye Zhongming pulled out his gun and fired a shot.

In fact, until now, no creature had dared to provoke the iron lock prisoner. The absolute level suppression from its fourth-level strength instinctively made many mutated life forms keep their distance.
