Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 61: Target, Fear Sheep! 🐑

Published: February 5, 2025

The intense gunfire erupting from the building caused Ye Zhongming's body to momentarily freeze, but he quickly accelerated his speed.

In a battlefield filled with corpses and rampant monsters, the first fire point might achieve significant results, but it didn't guarantee survival until the end.

Listening to the gunfire, he could tell there were at least two hundred people involved; he knew instinctively that it would be fortunate if even one in ten of them survived.

Now was a perfect opportunity to see if he could take down the fear sheep!

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that the corpse ape was indeed drawn in that direction, prompting Ye Zhongming to speed up even more.

"Ye, I see the monster baby! It's riding a purple cloud battle ant and, uh, how should I put it, it's strolling along the edge of Pearl Lake," Teacher Park reported smoothly, having regained some composure, as he monitored the monster baby's movements through binoculars from a distance.

Upon hearing this news, Ye Zhongming furrowed his brows. Did this mean the summoning of the monster baby was finished? Would that terrifying monster he had seen in his past life not appear again?

"Has the black hole disappeared?"

"No, it’s still there!"

The black hole hadn't vanished?

Based on his past experiences, the monster baby could only sound the horn once to summon monsters. Today, it had not sounded the horn again, so why was the black hole connecting to the desolate land still present?

Ye Zhongming was baffled but decided not to dwell on it; he could already hear the unique rumbling sound of the fear sheep running.

He stopped at the corner of the building and peered around. This somewhat secluded street was currently the scene of a chaotic battle among three parties: a group of survivors, a horde of zombies, and the fear sheep.

The situation was clear; it was only a matter of time before the fear sheep consumed both the survivors and the zombies. If it weren’t for the presence of a one-star evolver among those survivors, they would likely have collapsed long ago.

Those who came here looking to take advantage of the chaos were all capable people; only evolvers would start thinking about how to grow stronger in a single day, while ordinary people were still focused on merely surviving.

This survivor squad was likely formed from such individuals.

A movement from behind caught his attention—a small group of six or seven zombies had squeezed out from somewhere, drawn by Ye Zhongming's scent, and came charging toward him.

With the edge of the moon in hand and an arm shield on his arm, as an evolver with experience from his past life, dealing with these ordinary zombies was a breeze.

He raised his left arm with the shield, casually swept the edge of the moon with his right hand, and three zombies had their heads severed.

Turning his body, he smashed the shield down, crushing another zombie’s skull, and after a quick slash and stab, only one zombie remained.

With ease, he struck the back of its neck with the hilt, and in just ten seconds, all the zombies had been eliminated.

Just as he was about to dig for the magic crystal, Ye Zhongming heard hurried and chaotic footsteps approaching, accompanied by the rumbling of the fear sheep.

Li Nan hadn't been sent by the military to assist; he had come on his own.

Like the first batch of lucky individuals after the apocalypse began, he had obtained a bottle of Evolution Potion and became an evolver. The difference was that his Evolution Potion had been snatched from a true lucky person.

But regardless, Li Nan felt his life had changed. After hearing news of treasures appearing here, he gathered over twenty subordinates using various means to arrive.

His promises were grand because he knew that without them, at least half of these subordinates would leave. But Li Nan was clear in his heart that he wouldn't uphold this promise.

Killing, once begun, was often something one couldn't stop. Psychologically, he would lose respect and reverence for life.
