"Tomorrow is the day of the exam for my friend Xiao Ye. Here, Old Phantom wishes him all the best and good grades!"
"Is it you?"
Xia Bai, Mo Ye, and Shengyuan walked cautiously along the path clearly left for them, and upon seeing the person standing under a tree, they realized it was a corpse.
It was Red Hair.
The talisman above Mo Ye's head continued to spin in readiness. Utilizing the light it emitted, the group could see Red Hair's signature long hair that cascaded past her waist, along with her face that was becoming more human-like yet still bore a frosty demeanor.
"You can leave now," Red Hair said, her speech still somewhat awkward but much improved since half a year ago. However, her tone remained monotonous, making it sound quite unnatural to the listeners.
Upon hearing Red Hair, the three understood that this human puppet had saved them, and they naturally felt grateful.
"Thank you." Mo Ye realized that the human puppet before him had developed self-awareness and was no longer just the Red Hair who had followed Ye Zhongming from the new district base. Instead, she had become a little corpse king with many subordinates. If it weren't for the spirit woman, she might have even become the only corpse king in Ying City.
Xia Bai's gaze shifted downward slightly, noticing the torn fabric of Red Hair's simple clothing and a faint scar underneath.
"You’re injured?"
Since Ye Zhongming left, Red Hair had essentially been in a state of isolation from Cloud Summit Villa. She operated within Ying City, offering neither assistance nor hostility to the forces of her former master. Many times, teams from Cloud Summit had encountered Red Hair and her subordinates while on missions in Ying City, but she acted as if she didn’t see Cloud Summit's people, not helping them complete their tasks and merely watching them being attacked without intervening. Of course, she had never attacked Cloud Summit either.
Core members knew of Red Hair's existence and had attempted to contact this former comrade during the increasingly dire circumstances of the last two months, but received no response.
Her sudden appearance today was quite unexpected, and the three were shocked to think about who could have injured this little corpse king under the protection of nearly two thousand zombies.
They were well aware that Red Hair had consumed the blood of evolution and had possessed fifth-level strength half a year ago. Now, her capabilities were unfathomable; she was one of the two corpse kings in Ying City, distinguished only by one being a big king and the other a little king.
"Spirit... woman."
Red Hair answered naturally and tilted her head up to sniff the air. "You need to be careful of her; she is in a critical period of evolution and requires a lot of energy."
After saying this, Red Hair glanced at the three and turned to leave. Her zombie army obediently followed her, moving with not even a sound apart from the sound of their footsteps.
Mo Ye opened his mouth but didn’t call out to Red Hair, his mind filled with the desire to ask for her help, yet unsure of how to say it.
Watching Red Hair depart with the horde, the three quickly left the area.
The next day at noon, when the three returned to Cloud Summit Villa, they looked somewhat disheveled. Although they had fallen into a trap set by the Radiant World Army and nearly met their end outside, they encountered two small groups from the Anti-Cloud Summit Alliance on their way back. The three managed to take down over thirty people, sustaining injuries themselves, but nothing serious.
"Has Sister Lei and the others returned?"
Mo Ye, not even having changed his clothes, entered the villa protected by walls over ten meters high through the five-meter tall city gate. He anxiously asked Tang Tian, who was training new recruits.
They had been ambushed; would Xia Lei and the others have faced the same fate?
Tang Tian was taken aback at the sight of Mo Ye and his friends. "The boss lady and the others returned two hours ago from the earth yellow pill area; they're all fine."
