Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 381: Suppression Disappeared 🌀

Published: February 7, 2025

Although the cold season had not yet arrived, there was already a noticeable chill in the air, constantly reminding the inhabitants of the Blue Secret Realm that the most difficult times were approaching.

Ye Zhongming had also changed into the leather armor of the posthumous child. If he didn’t look at the messy hair that strongly resembled that of Earth, he could easily be mistaken for any other posthumous child.

Accompanying Ye Zhongming on his quest for small flying magic monsters was Miya.

Afo had explained that the hunting team was busy preparing for departure, and only Miya could accompany him.

Although Ye Zhongming found it a bit strange, he thought it made sense after considering it and did not refuse.

According to the people from the two tribes, there were two types of small flying magic monsters that met Ye Zhongming's criteria, both of which were not very close to the camp. The first one required about five days of falling sand to reach, and the second would take an additional two days of falling sand. If everything went smoothly, they would reach the habitat of the copper savage demon monster after twelve days of falling sand, but everyone agreed to meet sixteen days later, giving Ye Zhongming ample time to get things done.

Both Ye Zhongming and Miya were quite skilled in surviving in the wild; they occasionally hunted, improved their map, or collected materials along the way, making their journey very smooth.

During the trip, Ye Zhongming asked about certain things, like whether there were roulette wheels or professionals around, but Miya told him that these did not exist.

There were magic crystals, but no roulette wheels. Ye Zhongming always felt something was off; it was clear that he couldn't find answers from Afo or the small tribes like Gray Mountain. He would have to head to the Royal City of the posthumous children or the more advanced Temple of Dawn, where some surviving documents might provide answers.

Even though it had been three months since he arrived in the Blue Secret Realm, Ye Zhongming still struggled to adjust to the absence of day and night. When he rested, it often took him a while to fall asleep.

It was very quiet in the valley, surrounded by mountains, and lighting a fire wouldn’t alert the magic monsters. Ye Zhongming knew it would be a relatively peaceful night.

Then, he heard some rustling sounds behind him, and Miya crawled out of her tent... In fact, the two had been sharing one tent these days, but one person had to keep watch, so it didn’t matter whose it was.

“Why aren’t you sleeping?”

Although they had nearly fought to the death when they first met, after spending some time together, Ye Zhongming realized that Miya was actually a girl who was quite vulnerable when it came to family and kin. Such a temperament was common in peaceful times on Earth, but it was rare in the apocalypse, as such personalities didn’t last long.

“Afo asked me to give this to you before we came.”

Ye Zhongming looked over; Miya handed him a sheepskin scroll that looked very ancient, or perhaps worn out, but still preserved quite well.

Inside was some writing from the posthumous children, accompanied by various illustrations and annotations.

Ye Zhongming could now speak the language of the posthumous children without any problem, but he was not very skilled with the script, so he could only understand a small part of it, looking at Miya with a puzzled expression.

Miya added a log to the campfire, and under the dancing flames, her prominent features appeared even more vibrant.

“Yesterday, when you killed the devouring roar magic monster, you used the soul shattering technique, right?”

Ye Zhongming nodded; he indeed used that ability derived from the great thousand soul refining technique yesterday.

Having learned this spiritual power technique for nearly a hundred days of falling sand, Ye Zhongming had made rapid progress. He had completed half of the two-thirds of the great thousand soul refining technique that Afo taught him and had mastered the first offensive skill arising from this technique, the soul shattering technique.
