In the face of major danger, Zhao Xiangxue stood at the top level of the Cloud Summit, looking down at the vast experimental field with an undeniable sense of worry on his face.
He had been in seclusion for a period of time, and after coming out, he heard from the clan leader about Ye Zhongming's somewhat outrageous ideas, which prompted him to come to Cloud Summit Manor.
Firstly, the clan wanted him to gather information, and secondly, Jie Su was also very eager to know the answers. He had been fighting alongside Ye Zhongming for several years; perhaps Ye Zhongming was a bit reckless in battle, but that was precisely an advantage — the best way to ensure survival. Jie Su never thought of Ye Zhongming as a reckless person or someone who acted without considering the consequences at other times.
However, why did he propose such a suggestion?
Upon arriving here, Jie Su was already prepared for the possibility that Ye Zhongming would not provide him with an answer. After all, they belonged to different clans. They could cooperate to the maximum extent and even entrust each other's lives, but when it came to the interests of their respective races, they would be exceedingly cautious — it was a matter beyond their control.
Jie Su did not think that his inquiry about the progress of this matter would be viewed by Ye Zhongming as a personal act.
But unexpectedly, Ye Zhongming directly brought him to this place.
This was a gigantic egg-shaped experimental field, and within the experimental area, there were indeed three massive white eggs with gray spots.
At this moment, the three towering eggs were connected to dozens of thick metal tubes, each with transparent sections through which various colored liquids could be seen flowing.
Jie Su was not a technician, but as the heir cultivated by the Su Clan, he immediately recognized many of the surrounding devices. He just wasn’t sure what all these high-tech devices were collectively used for.
Watching the three giant eggs, which occasionally vibrated intensely and emitted a strange yet terrifying aura, Jie Su felt that Ye Zhongming was playing with fire.
“Zhong Ming.”
Jie Su had been accompanying Ye Zhongming at the top of the experimental field for quite some time, even witnessing a laboratory accident.
A metal tube inserted into the leftmost giant egg experienced a backflow of liquid for unknown reasons, causing the giant egg to jump several meters high and pull several machines down upon landing. Two researchers nearby were also thrown back, suffering serious injuries.
Regardless of the cause of the accident, judging by the speed and attitude with which Ye Zhongming and the researchers below handled it, it was evident that these giant eggs were habitually unstable.
Instability, to some extent, meant a low success rate.
“You’ve invested all the borrowed money into this. If it fails…”
Ye Zhongming was a money-making machine; the Su Clan and the Lena People both knew this, which is why they lent him money.
However, that amount of money was substantial, and without any planets to obtain Moon Age Gold at the moment, if Ye Zhongming's experiment failed this time, the debt would be burdensome for a long time.
This meant stagnation for the Cloud Summit faction, which currently relied almost entirely on Ye Zhongming.
The cost of failure could not be underestimated.
“It doesn’t matter if it fails; at least I and my people know we did our utmost to rescue the Long-Distance Expedition Fleet.”
Ye Zhongming shook his head nonchalantly.
“Besides, who says it will definitely fail?”
Hearing Ye Zhongming’s words, Jie Su opened his mouth but said nothing; his expression was unmistakable.
With accidents occurring frequently here, it was possible that one misstep could lead to the experiment being scrapped — and that still wouldn’t be considered a failure?
Jie Su was already contemplating how to explain this to the big shots back at the clan.
“Everyone knows I’m using the genes of the little slave clan for testing, but do you know what my ultimate goal for the experiment is?”
