The main cannon of the Survivor Fortress had not fired in a long time.
It had been so long that most of the people in the Su Lai Alliance could only search through terminals to find out the exact time of the last launch.
That was during the era of the All Races of the Universe war, a thousand years ago.
After that battle, the number of Survivor Fortresses was fixed at seven.
Many people walked outdoors, not watching the live broadcast on the light barrier, but instead looking up at the brilliant beam of light cutting through the sky.
That was not just the light of the main cannon firing; it was the fate of them all.
For the people of the Su Lai Alliance, most of them agreed, or rather, were persuaded to take action against the slave race.
It wasn't that they were particularly brave, but many instinctively believed in the decisions made by their race's leaders. After the All Races of the Universe entered a state of wandering, it was the decisions of the leaders that allowed them to survive in the vast cosmos, escaping from the pursuit of the slave race.
They habitually thought it would be the same this time.
However… everyone still felt uneasy.
The light in their view faded from brilliant to nothingness, gradually moving out of sight, but no one averted their gaze.
In the command center, Ye Zhongming watched the screen, repeatedly contemplating how to respond next.
They had already tried their best to weaken the slave race, but if the slave race managed to evade… what should they do?
Ye Zhongming knew that the Earth slave was a young being, perhaps just coming of age, or even still underage.
They needed to weaken its strength as much as possible before firing the main cannon. If they still couldn't do anything against it under these circumstances, then not only would the Su Lai Alliance suffer a devastating blow to their confidence, but Ye Zhongming himself would as well.
He would enter a state of wandering just like the previous All Races of the Universe.
Ye Zhongming hoped everything went smoothly.
Yao Han Su, Queen Ning Jihua Mei, and others stood up, their eyes fixed on the currently empty space of the universe. They knew that in a few seconds, the beam from the main cannon would collide with the slave race here.
The slave race did not evade; it collided head-on with the beams of light.
At this moment, which truly determined their fate, many people became less focused. They knelt down, lowered their heads, closed their eyes, murmuring prayers or blessings.
The cosmic space visibly shook.
Other observers and operators had their eyes glued to the light barrier, eager to determine the outcome of this battle.
"This... this is..."
An observer stammered, pointing at a corner of the light barrier, and everyone looked over.
As the light faded, a multitude of fragments floated there, with the largest pieces potentially surpassing a continent on a planet.
Did they win?
Many people had this thought in their minds but felt a sense of disbelief, a surreal feeling.
After so many years of failures against the slave race—failures that left them wandering in the universe—everyone had grown accustomed to it.
But now, a corpse of a slave race floated in their light barrier, and the objects that might be blood, despite their dark color, appeared glaringly bright at this moment.
"No, it's still alive!"
An observer, suppressing his excitement, used precise instruments to keep observing the slave race's corpse. He suddenly shouted, projecting what he discovered onto the command room's screen.
Almost simultaneously, Ye Zhongming issued another command—the last command he had prepared.
In the vastness of the universe, among countless shattered remains of the slave race, one piece was subtly pulsating.
It wasn’t due to inertia but was pulsating rhythmically like breathing.
This was also the reason the observer sounded the alarm.
Four figures suddenly appeared in the airspace, led by an old man in a black robe—the Old Dean.
These four were the only true peaks of the Su Lai Alliance capable of operating in space for a short time.
