Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 2690: Double Divine Fire 🔥

Published: February 13, 2025

Ye Zhongming entered his transformation state the moment he saw the person.

He was afraid that if he hesitated for even a second, he would lose his chance.

Peak expert.

The person sitting in the chair, looking at him, was a peak expert among the dwarves.

The faint aura radiating from him was something that life below the peak could not achieve.

Ye Zhongming was only half a step away from that threshold, but he still could not possess such an aura.

The man watched Ye Zhongming complete his transformation quickly but did not move.

However, when he noticed that after Ye Zhongming transformed, he remained still and did not take any other action, there was a hint of surprise in his eyes.

In the realm of peaks, there is no such thing as a challenge across levels.

The gap between lives that have not reached the peak and those that have is as vast as the starry river.

"I really didn't expect it to be you."

"I really didn't expect it to be you who came."

The first sentence was somewhat surprised; the second sentence had a hint of joy.

Legro stood up, looking at Ye Zhongming with a big smile on his face.

This place was an important hub in Machinery City, related to the power system of the giant war beast. If this place broke down, then the beast transformed from Divine Artisan City would be unable to move, left stranded.

Although it would still have some combat capability, it would lose its invincible stance and be unable to defend against certain attacks.

Another crucial position was also guarded by a peak expert, where the true core was located.

"My name is Legro, a nameless individual. I’m responsible for guarding the Eikma Energy Nexus."

"If it were someone else, if they discovered me and left, I would let them go, because guarding the core is my responsibility."

"You didn’t run away, which probably means you have a way to leave at any time."

"But because it’s you who came, my primary goal will be to kill you."

Legro, this name was quite unfamiliar to Ye Zhongming. There was no record of this person in any information he had.

Ye Zhongming’s gaze fell on Legro's left arm.

"Your information recently became must-read material for all Tarros Red Dwarfs. It states that you are an extraordinarily skilled craftsman, second only to the divine artisan. It seems to be true; yes, divine level bracers, adoration's companion."

Legro then unfastened his outer coat, revealing a piece of armor inside.

"Song of the Wielder, divine level battle armor."

Two pieces of divine level equipment — Ye Zhongming took a step back.

The pressure was simply too great.

Even without divine level equipment, a peak expert was someone Ye Zhongming could not defeat, let alone now, where the opponent had two pieces — one defensive armor and one bracer that balanced offense and defense.

However, Ye Zhongming found it somewhat strange: it was understandable to have a peak expert guarding a core area, and it was even reasonable to have one piece of divine level equipment, but what did it mean to have two? Wouldn’t it be better to give that extra piece to those dwarves outside who were fighting?

The moment Ye Zhongming stepped back, red lines appeared behind him, each connecting to massive, thick metal pipelines, blocking his retreat in every direction.

"Adoration's companion’s ability — don’t leave."

Legro evidently believed he had completely seized the initiative. Even if Ye Zhongming had some backup, it would not affect the outcome.

"I'm sorry, the divine artisan who created this piece of divine level equipment had a rather... special naming convention."

A smile remained on Legro’s face; this peak expert seemed a bit excited. Ye Zhongming’s status in this war indeed could thrill him—killing or even capturing someone like him would have a decisive influence on this battle.

"You don’t seem to like talking."

Seeing Ye Zhongming remain silent, Legro started to walk forward slowly.

In his transformed state, Ye Zhongming could not see his expression. After a moment of silence, he replied, "Villains die due to excessive chatter."
