Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 2559: Foster Land (Part One) 🏡

Ye Zhongming shook his hand, finding no unusual signs with the mark. He then attempted to inject energy into it, but it still did not respond.

Was it merely a marker?

Ye Zhongming couldn't understand, so he decided to stop pondering it. However, he increasingly felt that his guesses were correct—this place should be the trial wheel of the flame spirit.

But it seemed to be in an inactive state.

The existence behind the wheel made the Dragon Race guard this location to protect the wheels. Since the wheels were indestructible, at least up to this point, even peak experts had no way to deal with them. If that was the case, why did the wheels need guardians at all?

There was no one here who could damage them.

Ye Zhongming was puzzled and kept thinking, trying to find an answer, as it might help him here.

Soon, a possibility popped into his mind, which made him excited.

Why was he able to enter the wheel? The Dragon Race didn't know, and even Red Boy himself was unclear about it.

Previously, Ye Zhongming himself wasn’t certain, but after entering, he was convinced that this place, even if it wasn’t the elemental spirit wheel, should be some kind of haven for spirits!

The method he used to enter was through the dragon blood patterns containing fire elements, which he had seen several times before.

Most of the times were when Ye Zhongming was nurturing small spirits to the point of evolution; those patterns emerged from them. There was also one time in a dream, in a scene conjured by the existence within a mysterious metallic coffin.

The spirit that had spontaneously manifested a metallic statue occasionally flickered with these patterns.

They were quite similar, just slightly different.

Ye Zhongming had no way to open this wheel earlier, so he tried, and unexpectedly, it worked.

Those patterns were the key to opening these wheels that lacked magic crystal slots!

Adding on to the fact that the properties presented once inside the wheel matched those of their location, he had basically confirmed that this was indeed a haven for fire elemental spirits.

This meant that the Dragon Race's task here was to prevent beings like Ye Zhongming, who knew what this wheel was and how to activate it, from turning it.

However, perhaps due to the rules being established for too long, the guardians had grown weary and began to yearn for freedom.

And Ye Zhongming just happened to be someone who could potentially provide them with that freedom.

Thus, the guardians did not stop Ye Zhongming from turning the wheel.

Having seen those patterns, Ye Zhongming entered with a stroke of luck.

He looked up again at the red shadow atop the giant peak, which should be the fire spirit, right?

If he had entered such a wheel on Earth or elsewhere, he would have to undergo a series of trials before briefly or permanently obtaining ownership of an elemental spirit, which would be in its infancy.

But here?

Ye Zhongming felt as though it wouldn’t be in its infancy anymore.

After obtaining a Flame Mark, Ye Zhongming knew things wouldn’t be that simple. There would likely be enormous risks ahead. After crafting a new set of equipment for himself, Ye Zhongming approached the edge of the magma pool.

He looked around, not seeing the path he had come from; the small path ended here, reappearing only on the other side of the magma pool.

The distance was too great to jump, so could he fly over?

Ye Zhongming immediately turned and called for Red Boy to come over.

The fire elemental dragon reluctantly flew over, casting a glance at the Flame Mark on Ye Zhongming.

"Hoarding good stuff for yourself, and now you think of me?"

“Why don’t we skip the flying and just have you lie in the magma pool while I walk over your back?”

“I didn’t say anything.”

“Hmm, sounds promising.”

After a silent confrontation between the master and servant, Red Boy carried Ye Zhongming and began to soar over the magma pool.

Whether this place wasn’t a trial or if there was a loophole in the trial, they flew over the magma pool without encountering any danger.
