Chapter 2549: Encountering Problems 😟

Published: February 13, 2025

Ye Zhongming resumed the slightly tedious process of energy purification. However, during the breaks, because the Star Spirit had already matured, he could now use it to assist in the equipment manufacturing process, making the entire procedure much more efficient.

Even though repeated manufacturing failures left Chao Yang feeling alarmed, there was a fear that the resources from the eight sacred sites would be insufficient. Chao Yang thought that the current craftsmen of this era were simply terrifying. Were they manufacturing at such a rapid pace? Did they really have such a low success rate?

This, however, was a misunderstanding from the peak water elemental dragon. It wasn't that Ye Zhongming's success rate was low, but rather that he was trying to create a new type of equipment, one that could be used by elemental spirits. If he succeeded in this endeavor, although he might not meet the current standards to become a divine artisan, he would, in some respects, already be at that level.

What level is a divine artisan? It means that there is no one stronger than them above. If Ye Zhongming could create equipment for elemental beings to wear, then there would be no one above him stronger. If not at the divine artisan level, then what could it be?

Purifying energy and researching equipment are extremely time-consuming. After Ye Zhongming returned to the spacecraft, a full five days had passed. The Earth Spirit was still just a step away from maturity, and the equipment worn by the elemental spirits had also entered a slow progression after initially making rapid advancements.

Ye Zhongming wasn't too worried about the former; with the example of the Star Spirit, the Earth Spirit should reach maturity within a day or two.

What really gave Ye Zhongming a headache was the equipment they needed.

Ye Zhongming had resolved the issue of the equipment resisting the space-time storm. At least he believed he had. If his and the elemental spirits' sensing was correct, then the equipment he created would indeed have a high resilience against the space-time storm.

However, the fundamental issue of how the elemental spirits could use the equipment remained unresolved. The Star Spirit could wear this somewhat ethereal equipment, but it could only last for a very short time—perhaps just a few seconds—before it would automatically fall off.

This essentially meant that the research could be considered a success, but it couldn't be used.

"It needs to be etherealized, to be of the same essence and source as the elemental spirits, with a stable energy frequency..." Ye Zhongming continuously pondered how to resolve this issue.

He had thought that his earlier ideas would surely succeed, but it now seemed otherwise. Ye Zhongming realized he had underestimated the complexity of the task.

Chao Yang didn't understand equipment manufacturing, but seeing Ye Zhongming's expression, she knew he was facing a problem. She asked him a question but fell silent after that. It was only at one moment that this peak giant dragon proposed a completely new idea.

What if the equipment no longer functioned as equipment, but instead became a part of the elemental spirits?

Chao Yang didn't think that her idea would have any significant impact; she simply wanted to expand Ye Zhongming's thinking as much as possible to help him solve the problem more quickly. Qing Mo on the other hand, couldn't hold out much longer and could die at any moment, so she felt a bit anxious.

Ye Zhongming glanced at the peak water elemental dragon and nodded.

He hadn't considered this approach before, but saying it was easy. How could he turn equipment into a part of the elemental spirits? Etherealizing the equipment had already exhausted Ye Zhongming's mental resources. Even if he had a brand-new idea now, he couldn't think of a way to implement it.

Integrating into one entity... how easy could that be?

Just as the Earth Spirit was digesting energy, the alarm in the spacecraft suddenly went off.

At that moment, Ye Zhongming was in the process of manufacturing equipment. Commander Cheng Liujin, the highest commander of the spacecraft, immediately ran over to inquire about the situation.
