Qianchu stood on the cliff, looking at the radiant ground across from him.
"That outsider has already found a way, right? Why does he still come to me?"
From within the brilliance, a stable and gentle voice emerged, pulsating with each syllable.
"I don't believe it," Qianchu replied after a moment of silence, his voice echoing on the cliff, casting a dark hue over the entire mountain. The influence of the radiant projection diminished in an instant.
"No, you do believe," the voice responded from the light. "If you didn't believe, you wouldn't have come here. You're just uncertain whether he can really do it, and Qing Mo, there is only one chance left."
Qianchu fell silent.
The range of the brilliance expanded slightly. "You have improved again."
Hearing this, Qianchu remained silent.
"When do you plan to challenge me again?" The tone of the brilliance remained unchanged, but the atmosphere suddenly shifted.
"Defeating you means I can obtain the position of patriarch?" Qianchu replied coldly.
"Not really, because that is not the way of succession," the brilliance stated bluntly. "However, it can at least prove that you are stronger than the current patriarch. Perhaps you can earn the title of the strongest in the Dragon Race."
This statement felt somewhat off. There seemed to be some power struggle between the patriarch of the Dragon Race and the dark elemental elder.
"It’s meaningless." Surprisingly, Qianchu did not argue with the patriarch of the Dragon Race. "Challenging you in the past was simply because I was bored in the Dragon Race. Besides this, I couldn't think of anything else that would interest me."
"But now it's different. I have discovered, no, the Dragon Race has discovered a new world, perhaps a chance for us to return to the center stage of the universe."
The shadow of the mysterious patriarch of the Dragon Race, Ye, remained indistinct within the brilliance.
He smiled at the words of his old rival. "You think this is the last chance, right? Whether it succeeds or not, it’s worth taking a gamble."
"Don't you think so?" Qianchu countered.
Ye fell silent.
Naturally, he was aware of the earlier news; several elemental patriarchs had reported to him immediately, and he had agreed. Otherwise, even the elders would not easily permit Chaoyang to interfere with the ancestral legacy within the sacred land.
The many details of cooperating with Ye Zhongming were indeed significant. Without Ye's nod, it would have been impossible.
"You want me to cast the illuminating salvation?"
After a while, Ye finally spoke up.
The reason Qianchu came here was precisely for this.
As the patriarch of the Dragon Race, Ye stated that Qianchu did not genuinely think Ye Zhongming could do it. Instead, he believed this was the last chance for the Dragon Race, and no matter what, he wanted to take a gamble.
"Yes," Qianchu admitted.
"But this has little to do with betting on the future. Even this ability of the Light Element Dragon Race can only be used once in a lifetime; perhaps saving it for later might be more valuable than using it now," Ye asked.
He understood Qianchu's intention, but doing so only increased the chance of saving Qing Mo. It had little to do with the grand strategy of the Dragon Race stepping out.
If they could wait and use it at a crucial moment in the future, the cost-effectiveness would be much better.
"Before we step out, we need to resolve some lingering issues; otherwise, without constraints, do you really think our people will still gather under the banner of our race like they do now? Even now, due to our regulations, some of our kin do not heed our commands; they are closer to Chaoyang than to us. Without constraints, with our loose management system, once we leave and face the vast cosmos, will they remain?"
Qianchu's tone rose significantly. Facing these long-considered issues, it was tough to maintain calm.
"Before stepping out, we must resolve some past problems. At least, we should express our stance. This way, once we do step out, the increased cohesion will bring us greater benefits. This is far beyond what a single illuminating salvation can compare to."
