The sound of knocking pulled Ye Zhongming out of his thoughts.
“Boss, you’ve been cooped up in here all day,” said a guard from the red dress guard as she brought in a plate of food. She glanced around and noticed that apart from the large metal coffin that the boss often studied, there was nothing else in the room.
This indicated that the boss hadn’t been busy crafting equipment or training; after all, he had responded when she knocked.
So, he must have been researching that coffin.
With her own suspicions, the guard spoke casually, but that didn’t mean she was going to act in accordance with her judgment. She merely wanted to know what the boss had been up to so she could be prepared for any orders he might give at any moment.
Ye Zhongming nodded, took the food, and started eating. However, anyone could tell that he wasn’t really tasting it. If you asked him what he was eating at that moment, he might not even know.
Yet, the guard from the red dress guard remained silent, merely watching quietly. After Ye Zhongming finished eating, she observed him again, confirming that there were no abnormalities and no commands to be given before she tidied up and walked out.
“Those three, nothing unusual?”
Ye Zhongming's voice was soft. The guard paused for a moment, didn’t turn around, but nodded. After a few seconds of silence, she closed the door and left.
The three peak experts showed no signs of abnormality, indicating that his being dragged into the coffin's spiritual world had likely gone unnoticed.
That was to be expected; both Bei Yin and Yao Han Su were formidable. The former was a well-established powerhouse whose strength had single-handedly supported the super clan of the musk ke people. One could imagine his capabilities. The latter, having grasped the adaptable formation, had undoubtedly reached a terrifying level of combat power.
But no matter how strong they were, they were certainly not as fearsome as this life form. This was a terrifying existence capable of confronting the slave clan in outer space. Though it had seemed a bit lacking at first, based on the content he exhibited later in the spiritual world, it was clear he had survived and ultimately arrived at that desolate place.
Ye Zhongming’s gaze shifted back to the massive metal coffin.
If his guess was correct, that person should be inside the metal coffin right now.
The question was, how to open it, and should he even open it?
Not to mention that Ye Zhongming didn’t even know how to open it, even if he did, was this the right place to do so? If the three peak experts discovered it, would there be any repercussions?
Moreover, without considering their thoughts, the coffin could be placed in a spatial dimension; was that life inside still alive? Normally speaking, it should be dead, but this existence was beyond normal standards and could not be measured by usual criteria. Once opened, if that person awakened, how could he ensure that they would not pose a threat to him and others?
Ye Zhongming certainly didn’t think that just because that person had taught him some things in the spiritual world, it would create a teacher-student relationship in reality.
If conflict arose, not just he and the three peak experts present, but this entire novice planet would crumble under a single breath from that being.
But… could he just remain indifferent with such a treasure right before his eyes?
Ye Zhongming quietly stared at the coffin, caught in a dilemma.
It wasn’t until someone from the red dress guard came to knock again, announcing that the next cycle of the novice battlefield was about to begin, that Ye Zhongming stood up and walked out, shaking off his entangled thoughts.
Indeed, what good was it to be conflicted now, as if he could just open the coffin?
…
Upon seeing Ye Zhongming emerge, the atmosphere in the vehicle noticeably became lively. The three peak experts couldn’t help but admire this kid’s immense influence over his subordinates.
