Listening to the gunfire coming from afar, Shasha's expression was serious. The birthmark on her face under the firelight resembled a shadow of leaves, easily overlooked by others.
Ye Zhongming stepped to the side behind her, observing Shasha's profile, feeling an odd sense of time and space intersecting.
"Was it really your people who did this?"
Shasha turned around to look at the young man who had suddenly appeared in her tent, claiming he wanted to discuss cooperation.
"And the Starved Tiger Knight, Da Kai should have mentioned him to you."
When Ye Zhongming had previously met Shasha and Da Kai, he had new ideas in mind. Although he had known Shasha in his past life, her character was unlikely to change. She valued benefits but also adhered to rules, making her far superior to many principle-less survivors. Furthermore, Ye Zhongming was aware that Shasha's subordinates had decent combat prowess; although that was from his previous life, it likely wouldn't be much worse now.
Ye Zhongming was currently in a position where he needed help. He did not have absolute confidence to withstand this zombie tide. The consensus among the core members of the villa was that even if they managed to eliminate the zombie tide, the losses would be significant, as more than twenty thousand zombies were no trivial matter.
In the past, with no trustworthy forces around, Ye Zhongming had not thought of any alternatives, but seeing Shasha now made him realize that this was a way to reduce losses.
Da Kai's appearance gave him more confidence in persuading Shasha, and thus, he stood here.
The shouts and screams from the distance began to weaken. Not just Shasha, but her subordinates also looked at each other with lingering doubts in their eyes.
The Tech City team had been traveling with them for several days. Initially, there had been frictions; to pick up the spoils after a zombie tide, one needed to demonstrate their strength to gain the recognition of other teams and qualify for the benefits.
After some mutual probing, Da Kai's group received tacit approval to act together. Shasha's subordinates understood that, in terms of hard power, they might not measure up to the Tech City team.
But now this man suddenly appeared in the camp, negotiating cooperation with the boss and demonstrating his sincerity by eliminating Da Kai. This⦠many found it somewhat hard to fathom.
As the gunfire faded, the situation on that side was unclear, but seeing this man's calm expression indicated to them that things were likely going well.
The battle ended in such a short time; even if he had joined forces with the Starved Tiger Knight, that combat ability was enough to draw attention.
The sound of engines approached, and the Starved Tiger Knight's team, along with the Cloud Summit Villa's group, arrived with remnants of bloodlust.
Ye Zhongming glanced at his subordinates. For today's operation, he had instructed the core members to refrain from engaging, leaving the combat to other evolvers and regular soldiers. Now, it seemed the results were good; these people's faces showed less panic and more determination and coldness, which were essential traits in the apocalypse.
"Boss Ye?"
A younger man, slightly younger than Ye Zhongming, walked over and extended his hand.
"Young Master Yun."
The two shook hands and exchanged smiles.
Ye Zhongming had tasked Xia Lei to find Young Master Yun among the Starved Tiger Knight's team, suggesting they team up to eliminate his nemesis, Da Kai. He knew that as long as Young Master Yun wasn't foolish, he would agree; the attack on the arms depot had greatly diminished his strength. The path before him was clear: either leave the Cloud Summit Mountain area and seek survival elsewhere, or wait for Da Kai to eliminate them all.
Now, with such an opportunity to resolve the predicament, this young man certainly wouldn't let it slip away.
The outcome proved Young Master Yun's choice was correct; he witnessed his enemy, Da Kai, being killed by a woman from Cloud Summit Villa. A knife-like hand pierced through his mouth, directly through his neck. While experiencing a sense of thrill, Young Master Yun also felt a shiver down his spine, a deep-seated fear towards this woman's brutal killing methods.
