Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 244: Acquaintances from a Past Life 🌌

Published: February 6, 2025

On a small path beside a farmland, a few people were gathered together discussing something. Not far behind each of them were several survivors holding various weapons, their expressions wary as they kept a close eye on each other.

“Copper Pot, did you also receive the warning from that force up ahead?”

A thin man in his thirties, puffing on a cigarette, looked over at a stockier man of the same height but much broader.

“I did, it's not going to be easy.”

The stocky man, whose face was wrinkled with worry, seemed to be facing a huge problem.

The others collectively rolled their eyes; this guy always complained about everything, it was practically his catchphrase.

The thin man turned to a bespectacled man standing with his arms crossed, “Da Kai, this is your territory. What’s the deal with Cloud Summit Villa? Don’t tell me they’ve threatened you too.”

The bespectacled young man, who looked scholarly, was Da Kai, the leader of the Tech City team, who had a rivalry with the Starved Tiger Knight and had previously sent a threatening letter to Ye Zhongming.

Adjusting his glasses, Da Kai looked at the thin man and said, “This isn’t my territory. In this area, Zhang Dalong from Ying City Prison is the boss.”

The thin man, known as Da Ding, used to have some connections during peacetime that allowed him to procure cheap memory cards. He had known Da Kai, who ran a small business in Tech City, for a long time. In the apocalypse, they unexpectedly met again a few days ago, and while Da Kai had more followers, he had fewer evolvers, with less than forty. Da Ding had fewer people but a slightly higher number of evolvers.

“What do you think, beauty?”

After Da Kai spoke, he turned his gaze to the only woman among the four leaders.

The three men looked at the woman, who was dressed in a tight black leather outfit, and their throats instinctively moved.

This woman had a stunning figure!

It was said that some women are the kind that make men think of bed upon seeing them, and this girl was undoubtedly that type.

However, a birthmark on her face was somewhat distracting, almost occupying the center of her face, which rendered her otherwise beautiful appearance quite unappealing.

“Bored.”

The woman’s voice was also pleasant, which only heightened the regret over the birthmark's presence.

“Sasha, what do you mean by that? Tell big brother.”

The thin Da Ding was smiling, but he looked quite disgusting.

“You’ve been following this zombie tide for a while now; you know how much benefit you’ve gained. Now someone wants you to give up; would you really give up? Why put on airs and hold a meeting here if not for boredom?”

Hearing Sasha’s words, the faces of the several men turned awkward. It wasn’t that they were so bored, but everyone had their own thoughts. Although Cloud Summit Villa was not explicitly stated as a force, they certainly had evolvers and firearms. If they could forego their base, it was indeed possible to fight them to the bitter end.

If a fight broke out, the order of attacks mattered greatly. The first to be attacked would undoubtedly suffer the most losses, while the other three forces could take advantage.

“I estimate that Cloud Summit Villa is just bluffing. My suggestion is to ignore them. When they come again tomorrow, we’ll gather together and scare them off. I don’t believe they’ll dare to act!”

“I think Da Ding’s idea is good.” Da Kai expressed his agreement from the side, then nudged the stocky Copper Pot, “What do you think?”

“Tsk tsk, it’s not going to be easy.”

Da Kai’s mouth twisted in anger; he thought this fool couldn’t see that the three forces had already agreed, and Sasha had no choice but to agree as well. If all four forces came together, Sasha would ultimately have to settle for less. There was even a chance they might take the opportunity to swallow up Sasha’s people. Not to mention, just the thought of Sasha herself—if one ignored her face, wouldn’t it be delightful?
