Chapter 2399: The Battle (Part 2) ⚔️

"Sky!" A huge roar echoed throughout the city from atop the watchtower, as an evolver with visual skills used a special megaphone to alert the defending troops.

At the same time, a massive crossbow launched a bolt with colorful smoke, indicating the direction from which the air force was approaching.

All the city defense mechanisms on this side were aimed at that direction.

The densely packed orc air force threw out the first spear, marking the beginning of this assault.

The orc air force consisted of various types, with three being the most numerous. One type resembled harpies, possessing incredible speed and armed with short bows. They were not the main attackers; instead, they waited for the front line to enter attack mode before seizing the opportunity to shoot at the Cloud Summit warriors from various angles.

Their shooting speed and accuracy were exceptional; if not for the slightly shorter attack range of their short bows, they would have been a true nightmare. Despite this, after more than ten days of fighting, these birdmen had become one of the most despised orc races among the Cloud Summit warriors.

The second type was the true air force and the backbone of the orc air force. Like the orcs on the ground, each one rode a flying battle beast.

It was clear that these aerial knights and their mounts had excellent coordination. Each was typically equipped with twenty short axes, two long spears, and two foot crossbows.

When facing airborne enemies, they would use long spears, and against ground foes, they would throw short axes or dive at their targets.

The foot crossbow served as a supplementary tool for combat, ready for immediate use.

The final type was the complete "bombing" unit.

Once the orc air force gained overwhelming superiority, these massive flying beasts would make their appearance. They were enormous, each resembling an aerial vessel. On their backs, orcs carried a large number of spiked iron balls. Once they reached a designated position, the orcs would drop these iron balls, targeting vast areas for bombardment.

These giant spiked iron balls were sharp and sturdy; falling from a great height, even green-level defense equipment would be breached. The impact could injure or even kill the targets struck.

They would also adjust the size and weight of the iron spikes according to their targets, and with so many defense mechanisms on the city wall being damaged, these attacks played a significant role. By dropping these items onto the walls, the Cloud Summit warriors were put in a dilemma. While they could use skills to intercept, this could not last forever. Once the skills went on cooldown, should they intercept and risk heavy casualties, or not intercept and risk losing their defenses, which would be extremely disadvantageous in battle?

Apart from these three main types, the orc air force included many odd varieties, some capable of throwing nets, some shooting venom, and others descending to wreak havoc.

Since the Cloud Summit lacked air cover, each orc attack began with aerial forces. Only after establishing air superiority would they allow ground troops to begin their assault, making the attack more efficient while minimizing casualties during the siege.

Copper Pot ordered all remaining city defense tools to target the sky.

This was also the common defense strategy employed by the Cloud Summit's defenders, aiming to inflict as much damage as possible on the orc air force, preventing them from penetrating too deeply into the city. This ensured that the watchtower within the city could provide some harassment and suppression against the attackers.

"Have they all been dispatched?" Copper Pot quietly asked his wife beside him.

Xiaoli nodded.

"Anyway, the subsequent counterattack shouldn't involve us much. Let's give them a good show."

"Tell everyone not to conserve supplies; use whatever is necessary. We don't know how long until it's our turn to fight next."

As Copper Pot spoke, he swiftly pointed his long staff, the enormous shadow of the staff piercing the sky, directly shattering the first long spear that was thrown at them. Then, it extended upward, and several leading orc flying beings were reduced to fragments.
