Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 2286: "Recognized me?" 🤔

Published: February 13, 2025

In America, due to different national conditions, many forces prefer joint management. In the early stages, such forces could easily establish themselves during the apocalypse, as consolidating resources together leads to a better survival capacity. As for internal conflicts later on... well, they are all accustomed to that.

After the couple left, Gold and Silver City adopted this model. The three leaders here have similar strengths; with the strongest two gone, no one is willing to bow to others, so becoming a joint leader is the most suitable choice.

The person who just arrived is one of the three leaders.

The warehouse is a public space for the entire city, with a clear merit system in place. The items in the warehouse can be exchanged for merits. If anything is stolen, it would not only mean a loss of property, but the merit system itself would collapse.

The chain reaction caused by theft is severe and could directly threaten the stability of Gold and Silver City.

In the apocalypse, one could say there are no rules, but sometimes, rules are what guarantee stability.

"Who are you? You filthy thief!" the newcomer shouted at Ye Zhongming.

Ye Zhongming smiled slightly; this person was rather clever.

Anyone who can become a top evolver is certainly not a fool. Although he was furious to see the warehouse being robbed and wished to tear Ye Zhongming apart, upon entering, he saw the disappearance of the sturdy metal house, the collapse of the energy defense measures, and the fact that someone could silently enter a heavily guarded warehouse. Anyone who isn't a fool would know that this intruder is a master, someone who is not easy to deal with.

His shouting was merely a tactic to buy time and wait for help.

He wasn't in a hurry to act, and neither was Ye Zhongming, who was instead curiously examining the spatial entrance of a certain piece of equipment.

Within ten seconds, the warehouse was filled with guards, each raising their weapons to aim at Ye Zhongming. Then, two more individuals entered through the crowd.

The three leaders of Gold and Silver City had gathered.

Ye Zhongming merely glanced over and was initially uninterested, but when he saw the female leader, he paused for a moment.

"You thief, you won't leave here today."

The first person was no longer shouting but instead calmly sneering.

Ye Zhongming shook his head, "I'm not a thief. If I had to define it, I would say I'm a robber."

Everyone stared in surprise; they had seen arrogance, but never like this. After failing to steal, he simply switched to robbery? Who gave him the courage to say that?

"Whose equipment is this?" Ye Zhongming asked to himself.

He was quite interested in this piece of equipment; if he could examine it, perhaps it could provide him with some inspiration.

"Not going to answer? Then here's the second question: who among you has an entry pass?"

"Still not talking?" Ye Zhongming sighed, "Is my English not standard?"

"You..." The bearded man who entered later flashed a look of anger, his right hand instantaneously transforming into a pitch-black giant claw, lunging at the Masked Man he considered overly arrogant.

However, as soon as he unleashed this skill he was proud of, he saw a beam of light pierce through and quickly expand before his eyes.

Although he hadn't been a nine-star evolver for long, being a top evolver still meant he could respond swiftly. Noticing something unusual, his body instantaneously beastified, transforming into a beastman with a lion's head and a bear's body, opening his mouth to emit a war roar that would amplify his bloodline's power.

But suddenly, he felt something pierce into his head, and he couldn't produce a sound; instead, he was struck back.

Then his chest ached, and he clearly felt a surge of energy invading his body.

In the next moment, he suddenly collapsed to the ground like a rag doll.

After teleporting, Ye Zhongming reappeared and looked down at the palm print on his clothes, regarding the previously shouting man with a newfound respect.
