Jie Su and his guard entered the left path. At this moment, his expression was dark, glancing at the building on the right, an increasing sense of unease growing in his heart.
This was a very old building. Its age gave it a structure that was characteristic of Starshine City, meaning that the architectural style and materials were the same as those used in the Survivor Fortress.
Such a building, no matter how ancient, was not something Jie Su could break through.
Not being able to break through meant that he and Ye Zhongming could not meet before reaching the conference center.
This stretch of over a thousand meters, at full speed, would only take them a few seconds; yet, it felt like a point of no return that constantly devoured lives.
Those people had deliberately pushed them here, hadn't they?
Jie Su glanced to the left again, where there was another building of the same kind. Even if he could pass this way, he could not leave like this.
What was he here for? Wasn't it to protect Ye Zhongming? If he left, it would mean that his friends and ideals would all slip away from him.
He could only move faster, bypass this building, and meet up with Ye Zhongming.
"Communications have been blocked," the only guard said.
"I expected that," Jie Su replied.
These assassins had planned everything, each link perfectly chained together, naturally not allowing the Su Clan to call for help.
Suddenly, Jie Su, who was sprinting, stopped abruptly, pulling his guard to a halt beside him.
His gaze was fixed on the seemingly empty alley ahead, a cautious expression on his face.
"Clap, clap, clap!" A round of applause echoed, followed by a voice filled with amusement.
"Not bad, huh? A Su Clan heir whose rank is unknown can actually discover me. Truly impressive."
A shadow slowly appeared out of nowhere ahead.
It was a female creature, slender in figure, dressed in fitted leather armor, with two pairs of short wings evenly distributed on her back. She held two steel forks, each about a meter long, in her hands.
What drew even more attention was her feet; she wore no shoes, and unlike human toes, there were over ten sharp, black, bony spikes extending from her ankles, piercing into the ground as she stood there.
"Armor piercer?" Jie Su was genuinely surprised. This race should have been extinct, right? Why were they still appearing here?
Speaking of armor piercers, they were related to the Star-Eye Clan.
In the past, among the All Races of the Universe, the race skilled in assassination was not limited to just the Star-Eye Clan; the more renowned and formidable ones were the armor piercers.
Regardless of gender, all members of their race were exceptional assassins. They were few in number, but each one was powerful. Even in face-to-face combat, they were not at all weak, and their high agility allowed them to always seize the initiative in battle.
Another fundamental aspect of the armor piercers' survival among the All Races of the Universe was their ability to become completely invisible for a short period.
Previously, Ye Zhongming had also exhibited a similar ability in the Bronze Camp's playground, but that ability could not compare to that of the armor piercers.
Because the invisibility of the armor piercers was true invisibility in the literal sense; they could move, attack, and perform everything they could when visible, as long as their strength was high enough. Theoretically, they could maintain this status indefinitely.
Of course, until their extinction, no one had ever achieved that.
However, being assassins, they inevitably offended people. Over time, the number of those offended grew larger. After one operation, they angered a major clan, and in the following years, armor piercers faced inexplicable attacks wherever they went. With continuous deaths, their already small numbers fell into crisis, and their overall strength significantly declined.
When tigers fall to the plains, even dogs dare to bully them; animals do not deviate from this, let alone the armor piercers, who faced many enemies. Weak and vulnerable, they were gradually devoured by those races they had offended in the past and other races wanting to share in the spoils, leading to their eventual extinction.
