Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1647: Death Ladder 🪜

Published: February 12, 2025

In a place far from the Mountain King Plateau, there was no ice and snow or cold winds; only the clear, rippling lake waters and the fragrant songs of birds under lush green trees.

However, amidst this beautiful scenery, there was an extremely terrifying pit. It looked like a sore, branded into this picturesque land.

Upon closer inspection, at the bottom of the pit lay a woman, her eyes wide open and blankly staring at the sky.

The sound of soft footsteps approached, causing the woman's pupils to tremble slightly, but she made no other movements.

“Amus, it’s time; the people from Treasure Island have arrived.” A man clad in white battle armor knelt beside the woman and reached out to caress her beautiful face.

After a long silence, the woman gently spoke, “Has Adam taken care of everything?”

The man nodded, “Yes.”

For some reason, there was a hint of indescribable oddity in the man’s eyes, mixed with sorrow as he answered.

Without any visible effort, the woman slowly sat up, her body rising upright.

“I want to take revenge.”

Her voice was faint, devoid of any particular emotion, but the man who knew his wife intimately understood that her heart was now filled with hatred, and she needed an outlet for that emotion.

“I want to as well, but we can’t.” The man stood up. “Amus, you know where our strength comes from. The one who killed our only son will not be our match, but we don’t have the time to seek him out.”

“Our source of power requires us to do other things, as we agreed upon before.”

Amus’s expression shifted as she looked down at the bottom of the pit she had created, where terrifying energy still lingered.

“Let’s go, Amus.” The man extended his hand. “The one who could kill Adam must not be an ordinary person. We should believe that he will go there as well; all we need to do is wait.”

“Are you sure?”

Amus raised her head, looking at her man.

“I am sure.” The man affectionately lifted the woman into his arms. “We are among the first to use the entry tickets. By the time we reach the arena, we will be even stronger. We… will wait for him in the arena, waiting to… kill him!”

……………………………………………………

After entering the gate, Cloud Summit arrived at a location halfway up the mountain.

Everyone was certain that this was no longer the space of the roulette; at least, it was no longer the closed space it had been before, as they could see the full view of the peaks from here.

At the highest point, a gigantic roulette was shimmering brightly.

“The circular mountain path is twenty meters wide and very regular. Every five hundred meters, there is a stone stairway leading to the mountain top, each step being a two-meter by two-meter square area. Currently, we cannot ascend due to an invisible force blocking our way.”

After listening to Xiao Min's report, Ye Zhongming nodded.

After the team had taken a break, they arrived here through the newly appeared gate. Everyone discovered that they were stuck on this circular mountain path, possibly because it was still not open to the public.

“Let’s rest here and stay vigilant,” Ye Zhongming ordered before looking at the undead fish dragon that had fallen into a deep sleep after winning and the still unconscious spirit woman, waiting for the next prompt from this space.

However, after waiting for two hours, what they received was not the opening of the space, but another team.

It was Governor Black Peach's team.

Due to the special circumstances here, upon seeing each other, they immediately assumed a wary stance.

Governor Black Peach, with his mountain-like physique, stared at them for half a minute before signaling his team to slowly withdraw, creating a sufficiently safe distance.

Everyone understood that if the order of arrival here was determined by the time taken to pass the tests, then even if the first team to arrive here was not the strongest, they were definitely among the strongest teams. Acting rashly without understanding what they would face next was the most unwise decision.
