Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 152: Base Defense War ⚔️

Published: February 5, 2025

The densely packed spherical body made of monsters suddenly emitted a tremendous light.

Even under the morning sun, these red rays were incredibly dazzling, making the world lose its color.

After the light came the flames.

Li Qiang and the others, who were retreating from the ruins, witnessed this scene for the first time in reality—the horrific sight of human bodies being instantly turned to ashes.

Previously, they had only experienced such visual shocks in movies or animated through computer effects, but now, this kind of footage was happening right in front of their eyes. It made them forget the fear of death, staring intently to see what was happening.

The monsters that had just been arrogant moments ago were now transformed into flying black ashes, while the ground around them was scarred deeply with knife marks. Any creature above these marks was completely sliced open, leaving broken corpses on either side of the scars.

Black ash and severed limbs formed yet another gruesome scene after the explosion.

At the center, a figure stood there, holding a shield in one hand and a knife in the other, standing tall!

“It’s... it’s Ye...”

A survivor felt a dryness in his mouth, wanting to say something to express his feelings at that moment, but he found himself unable to utter even a complete sentence.

Li Qiang had already found Ye Zhongming's strength hard to believe, but now he finally understood that he had underestimated him. This young man's power had reached an incomprehensible level for him; he couldn't grasp what that astonishing blow had truly been.

Ye Zhongming was panting, his body slightly rising and falling with each breath. Due to the high temperature, much of the blood and flesh he was splattered with had dried, sticking to his clothes, making him appear dirty and disheveled.

However, neither the survivors in the ruins nor the mutated lives on the other side looked down on him because of this. Even the ordinary zombies, who had little intelligence, displayed instinctive wariness—this was a nature, a deep-seated fear of powerful beings.

Those second-level mutated lives were even more restless, retreating quickly and creating distance between themselves and Ye Zhongming. They were genuinely afraid; their intelligence allowed them to sense the terror of this killing god much more than their lower-level counterparts.

For a moment, the entire battlefield seemed to freeze in a bizarre stillness.

What Ye Zhongming had just used was the radiant seal blade master's combined career skill: Seal: Flame Blade.

Unlike when he was a one-star evolver, he had just unleashed this skill three times almost simultaneously in three different directions.

Two-star evolution provided a comprehensive enhancement to the human body. The appearance of career skills required survivors to have a profession, but the power of these skills was closely related to the user's abilities.

When Ye Zhongming was at one star, he could use a maximum of two fully combined career skills, which could still drain his mental energy, but their power was considerable and traceable.

Now that he had evolved to two-star, his mental energy had significantly increased. Although he couldn't yet use the four-times Seal: Flame Blade, since it wasn't just a simple matter of addition and subtraction but involved many complex factors, using three times this powerful skill was still well within his capability.

Moreover, this attack was faster and more powerful.

Throughout the earlier battle, he had refrained from using abilities like the basic summoning technique that consumed a lot of mental energy, just to unleash this tremendous blow.

And indeed, that strike had produced results.

“Ye, Boss Ye, the time is up.”

Li Qiang’s face flushed red. Although such a powerful person wasn’t himself, he still felt a sense of honor as a fellow human being, his words coming out stammering.

Ye Zhongming's cold gaze swept over the corpses and mutated lives not far from him. After witnessing the monster's retreat, he turned and stepped onto the ruins, gradually disappearing from the monsters' line of sight.
