Chapter 1156: Jumping into the Sea 🌊

CHAPTER TEXT:

In the city of colors, the monsters all have a common characteristic: they look similar.

There's no way around it; the city's architecture and decorations are made from only a few major types of materials. When they transform, their colors are all the same, which forces the evolvers entering here to distinguish them only by size.

However, size does not represent strength, and material differences don't either. So far, evolvers cannot determine the monsters' strength just by sight; only after engaging them can they ascertain their true capabilities.

Therefore, when so many monsters pounced together, no one could be sure which one to attack first. They could only instinctively aim and fire at the closest ones.

Among this batch of monsters, there were clearly over a dozen that were speed types. One of the members from the Nalan battle team, responsible for attracting the monsters, accidentally got entangled by two of them and was quickly overwhelmed by those charging from behind.

"Fall back while shooting!" Ye Zhongming shouted, leading his team in a tactical retreat while firing at the monsters.

If it were the Cloud Summit's own people, they wouldn't need a reminder at this moment; they would know what to do. But the Nalan battle team clearly lacked this tactical awareness. Some were overly excited, shouting to rush in and fight desperately, while others lingered around Ye Zhongming and his team, planning to continue riding their coattails. Some had even begun turning to flee.

The differences between the teams were evident at this moment.

With a clear command, the Nalan team steadied themselves. Under the firepower of Ye Zhongming and Li Qiang, they began throwing stones and iron rods as attacks.

These items could be reused.

If Li Qiang had previously been conserving bullets, now he was firing at full capacity, bullets flying from the gun nearly in a straight line.

Many monsters fell to such attacks, and the charging path gradually turned into a road of death.

At times, Ye Zhongming felt relieved. Although these monsters had transformed from various buildings, at least their heads remained their lethal points, allowing Li Qiang and him a chance for a fatal strike.

Otherwise, if they were the type that needed to be completely destroyed to die, the effectiveness of Li Qiang's marksmanship would be greatly reduced.

However, the monsters were already close, and because they needed to first kill the nearby speed types, the shooting accuracy was clearly not as high as before. After the team dealt with the first batch of monsters, the remaining colorful monsters had rushed in.

Both sides entered into close combat.

At this point, the Nalan battle team, which had previously provided great support to the Cloud Summit Quartet, was no longer effective. It wasn't that their strength was lacking; most of the monsters were only one level stronger than them, but there were not as many as the humans. In this situation, they could still fight.

But in terms of battle will, the Nalan battle team was far from outstanding.

They only held on for a few seconds before some individuals began to flee, leading to a rout.

Garan and Mina felt ashamed, wishing they could find a hole to hide in.

Gao Yi shouted loudly, charging forward with a large sword against opponents several times his size. Although Li Qiang and Zhao Xiangxue were ranged fighters, they did not flee; instead, they used their relatively agile bodies to reposition and look for opportunities to attack.

Ye Zhongming entered a war god mode, sheathing his gun and wielding a knife, rushing forward even more than Gao Yi, single-handedly charging into the monster ranks. Under the flashing blade light, almost none of the monsters could take even a round with him.

This situation made Garan and Mina hate themselves even more. They realized they had been too protective of their subordinates, and at the moment it was truly necessary to fight, they had lost their courage and even their vision. Didn't they see that the Cloud Summit Quartet could hold their ground?
